The Voice fan favourite and former Paralympian reveals behind-the-scenes drama that led to him joining Team Kate
As an ardent fan of The Voice Australia, I can’t help but be utterly smitten by the captivating voice and inspiring story of Matthew Hearne. His rendition of This Is the Moment sent shivers down my spine, and his journey as a Paralympian athlete turned musical theater performer is nothing short of extraordinary.
Recently, he left The Voice fans spellbound by his spectacular rendition of the timeless Anthony Warlow hit “This Is the Moment,” originally from the Jekyll and Hyde musical.
Currently, Matthew Hearne is part of a singing competition, having been chosen by outspoken judge Kate Miller-Heidke as his coach. This selection came about when both Kate Miller-Heidke and Adam Lambert simultaneously pressed their buzzers in an attempt to secure his talent for their respective teams.
However, the 25-year-old Paralympian confesses that he might have been persuaded to join Coach Adam’s team following Kate’s use of ‘Ultimate Block’ – a fresh element added to the show this season, which empowers judges to block all three other coaches simultaneously, thereby securing the artist they prefer for their team.
In a recent interview for Woman’s Day, Matthew candidly shared an unexpected revelation about his life, as he lives with cerebral palsy.
‘It was always going to be a toss-up between Adam and Kate,’ he told the magazine.
It would have been pleasant if Adam shared a bit more about his project and offered some complimentary words about me. After all, I wouldn’t mind hearing a little more about both.
The hunky athlete, who played on the Australian Paralympic Soccer Team, ‘The Pararoos’, has appeared on stage in musicals like Guys and Dolls.
He added: ‘They [Kate and Adam] both could have provided so many amazing bits of wisdom and guidance since they both have experience working within the world of musical theatre.
‘Obviously, Kate blocked Adam but I think she may have won me over without that as well.’
In another part of our conversation, Matthew shared that he tried out for The Voice following his performance of Australia’s national anthem at a Pararoos game.
And he also admits he can get nervous before a show.
‘When I get performance anxiety, I can start to lose control over my body,’ he said.

Following the disclosure by a TV insider, it appears that the incoming coach for The Voice is feeling apprehensive regarding their portrayal.
42-year-old Australian vocalist Kate Miller-Heidke recently appeared on a singing competition for the first time, simultaneously joining other coaches Guy Sebastian, LeAnn Rimes, and Adam Lambert.
A trustworthy insider suggests that the producers are deliberately fostering drama on the set, using Kate’s naturally competitive personality against her co-stars as a key element.
Currently, it seems that the fans are displeased by the harsh, seemingly rude remarks the artist behind Last Day on Earth has been making towards the other panel members.
According to a production source who spoke with Yahoo Lifestyle, it seems like she was deliberately placed to cause some controversy.

I believe that by watching this week’s episodes, Kate has finally grasped the part she’s playing within our coaching team.
It’s likely that Kate would have appreciated some advance notice during the filming in Sydney earlier this year. Undoubtedly, the producer was probably developing plotlines and taking note of Kate’s judging approach at the same time.
Additionally, some critics on social media have been quite vocal about their disapproval of Kate’s on-screen demeanor, particularly her perceived tendency to undermine or compete unfairly with the other coaches during talent show auditions.
Kate playfully hinted to contestant Tia Barnes that she should disregard any unhelpful comments from the other coaches.
A fan remarked after last night’s episode, “I admire Kate, but I’ve observed some rather unkind remarks from her.”

It seems she might not be aware of the impression she’s making. While I understand there’s a competitive edge, this situation appears to be somewhat distinct.
‘Agree, she has really turned me off, her behaviour is really nasty,’ posted another.
Meanwhile, Kate style has also been praised for not being ‘politically’ correct.
One fan expressed, ‘She hails from Australia! And she doesn’t hide behind a mask of overly politically correct behavior. In fact, the more I see of her authenticity, the more admiration I have for her.’ (Or) ‘One fan commented, ‘She’s Australian! She doesn’t pretend to be politically correct all the time. Instead, I find myself growing increasingly respectful of her genuine nature, Kate.’
‘Kate is so good on this show,’ messaged another.
Another fan gushed: ‘Absolutely zero wrong with anything Kate has said. She’s awesome.’
