The Voice Australia winner is revealed – as they take home $100,000 cash prize and a recording development package

From his very first blind audition, it was clear that he possessed an extraordinary talent that resonated deeply with audiences and judges alike. On Sunday night, the thrilling final episode of The Voice Australia aired, culminating in Reuben De Melo being named the victor of the widely-adored singing contest.

Reuben, being part of LeAnn Rimes’ crew, couldn’t hide his astonishment when Sonia Kruger, at the age of 59, revealed to him that he had secured a recording contract and pocketed $100,000 in winnings.

‘I never thought I’d get this far, this is crazy,’ he exclaimed. 

Elsewhere, Rimes couldn’t contain her excitement as the FIFO worker and father-of-three’s win. 

‘I’m so proud,’ she began.

‘You deserve every bit of this moment and I’m so honoured that I could be on this journey with you. 

‘You are incredible,’ she concluded. 

In the final round, Reuben was up against Annie Jones (Team Adam), Jaedyn Randell (Team Kate), and SKŸE (Team Guy).

Apart from claiming the prestigious award, Reuben also pocketed $100,000 as prize winnings, along with an exclusive music masterclass and a unique music industry development package that can’t be bought with money.

In a breathtaking final solo performance of House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals, Rueben left all four coaches in awe, with singer Kate-Miller Heidke praising it as ‘exceptional’. 

Rimes couldn’t help but keep grinning. Your performance was outstanding, almost unbelievable,” said Rimes, who later teamed up with Reuben on stage for an emotional rendition of ‘Fix You’ by Coldplay.

In his very first Blind Audition, Reuben managed to hold the attention of Australian spectators as well as the show’s judges, including Adam Lambert, Guy Sebastian, Heidke, and Rimes.

Eager to have him on her team, LeAnn used her Ultimate Block to guarantee he would be on her team. 

‘I knew as soon as he opened his mouth, and I heard him sing,’ she said at the time. 

‘There was just so much feeling there. There was no way I was letting any of the other coaches get to him before I did.’
