As a seasoned music enthusiast with a diverse taste, I must say that Mol Turner’s performance during The Voice Australia blind auditions was nothing short of extraordinary. Her unique rendition of Toxic by Britney Spears, transformed into a heavy metal screamo piece, was a breath of fresh air in the sea of pop and ballads we often see on such shows.

On a surprising turn of events during the blind auditions of The Voice Australia, Mol Turner showcased an exceptionally distinctive act as she graced the stage on Monday evening.

17-year-old cheerleader received a standing ovation, both from the judges and spectators, after she performed an intense heavy metal version of Toxic by Britney Spears with a screamo style.

However, although the judges admired and turned their chairs for Kate Miller-Heidke’s act, the audience at home showed mixed reactions towards her performance, finding it both horrifying and impressive.

“This didn’t provide enjoyment at all… It was incredibly loud and disruptive… I can’t help but wonder if it was done to boost ratings… Could you please reconsider?”

‘I am so glad there were no chairs turned, that was horrific, yeah heavy metal and Opera two genres I do not listen to,’ another added.

In my own words, I’d say: “I may be surrounded by a lot of content that some might label as worldly or even demonic, but for me, I choose to stay faithful to God and Jesus. It’s just not my cup of tea.”

‘It’s not something I personally enjoy, but the girl possesses a strong, untamed talent. It’s great that she gets to shine on stage. Every person’s abilities deserve to be displayed.’

In spite of the harsh criticism Mol faced online, there was a flood of affection and encouragement from numerous Australians as well.

‘Love it or hate it but that was amazing well done Mol! I loved every second!’ one user cheered.

Another fan added: ‘Ooooft her growl was [fire emoji] so good to finally see someone singing screamo.’

‘Mol that was so impressive and unique!’ someone else wrote, while another said: ‘I LOVE THIS.’

‘Now if only they chose interesting talent over plastic pop this show would be interesting. This chick is amazing,’ yet another viewer commented.

Despite not receiving chair turns from three out of four judges, Moll only heard praise from them. Additionally, Guy Sebastian mentioned that he found it challenging to envision coaching her due to certain reasons.

He exclaimed, “That was incredibly impressive! Your scream has such an intense quality – it wasn’t as if there was any distortion, that intensity was all genuine in your voice.”

At the last moment, Kate, aged 42, swiveled her seat, expressing that Mol’s act was ‘incredibly charming and unexpected’.
