The View host Ana Navarro slams George Clooney for ‘dragging’ his ‘friend’ Joe Biden after he drops out of presidential race
As a die-hard supporter and admirer of Joe Biden, I was filled with a mix of sadness and anger when I heard the news of his decision to bow out of the 2024 presidential race. I’ve always held Joe in high regard for his long and distinguished career, and I will never forget how he led us through some of the most challenging times in recent history – from saving democracy in 2020 to taking us out of the chaos that was the Trump administration.
Ana Navarro criticized George Clooney harshly for urging Joe Biden to resign in a bitter opinion piece for The New York Times, while she contended that the president has endured intense criticism over the last few weeks.
On Monday’s episode of The View, moderator Whoopi Goldberg led the discussion among the panel about Biden’s unexpected announcement to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. Without reservation, Navarro, aged 52, expressed her opinions on the matter.
A Republican political strategist confessed with a tinge of melancholy: “I’ve always admired Joe Biden, and today, I feel deeply appreciative towards him. With over 54 years of dedication to his career, Joe has truly left an indelible mark. Seeing him retire and move on brings me a sense of wistfulness, much like the feeling one gets when witnessing a legendary athlete call it quits.”
I, too, felt frustrated as I watched my friend endure relentless criticism from those he considered friends for over three weeks. I can only imagine the toll this has taken on him. Here’s to hoping that some of those vocal critics will put their money where their mouths are and make significant donations to make things right.
Directing a finger straight at George Clookee, the Ocean’s Eleven star, she declared, “You and I, Georgie-boy!,” a bold statement in Spanish that translates to “with you” as amused onlookers in the studio erupted in laughter.
Navarro went on to commend the President further, expressing her gratitude towards his team and Jill Biden. They have endured a great deal of criticism and hostility over the past three weeks. Nevertheless, they have maintained a strong and consistent leadership throughout this period.
She expressed her deep gratitude, stating, “They saved us from the misery of COVID and the turmoil of Trump’s presidency. For this act, I will be eternally thankful.”
Recently, Clooney called on Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential campaign following a poorly received debate and questions about his ability to handle another term.
A well-known actor from Hollywood, who has supported Biden’s campaign, wrote in a personal essay that Biden might not be able to defeat the clock in his bid for presidency. He additionally criticized Democratic party leaders for disregarding the red flags indicating Biden’s deteriorating physical and mental condition, and for attempting to excuse his subpar debates against Trump.
When we see President [Name], whom we hold in high regard, step off Air Force One or approach an unscripted microphone to answer a question, many of us Democrats take a deep breath or lower the volume on our excitement. We respect his leadership and want to give him the space he needs to effectively communicate.
Clooney expressed in The New York Times: “I have great admiration for Joe Biden. Whether as a senator, vice president, or president, I consider him a friend. I trust his character and values. In the past four years, he’s triumphed in numerous challenges.”
I’ve seen firsthand how relentless time can be, and unfortunately, not even someone as influential as Joe Biden can defy its passage. None of us can. It’s a harsh reality to accept, but the Joe Biden I met three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the same dynamic, larger-than-life figure he was in 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden we saw just last year. Instead, we witnessed a different version of him during the debate.
George Clooney stated, “Joe Biden is a hero. He safeguarded democracy in the year 2020. It’s crucial that we count on him to do so once more in 2024.”
Three weeks ago, an article appeared in The New York Times following the historic $28 million fundraiser I had the privilege of helping organize for the president at George Clooney’s residence on June 16th.
During Monday’s talk show, Sunny Hostin from The View expressed her support for Joe Biden and shared her discomfort with the idea of pushing him out during their discussion.
She expressed: “I found the cannibalization within the Democratic Party unsettling, but I support his choice if he made it with the advice of Dr. Jill Biden, his family, and independently.”
Sara Haines added, “I appreciate Biden’s long career in public service as well, but I’d like to offer a slight contrast to Ana and Sunny’s perspective on the Democratic Party’s current state.”
Criticizing the biggest job in the world is expected, and I feel that some friends, including George Clooney with his op-ed, didn’t fully hit the mark. Their pieces came across as hesitant and emotionally detached, leaving many readers divided.
