The surprisingly basic £53-per-night hotel where the stars of ‘The Traitors’ are staying has been revealed – and it’s a far cry from the show’s luxurious Ardross Castle setting.
The popular BBC show, The Traitors, is filmed at Ardross Castle, a beautiful 19th-century Scottish estate in the Highlands. The castle is known for its impressive gothic architecture.
Despite what it looks like, the contestants don’t actually spend the night in the castle – which might surprise some viewers.
Each day after filming wraps, the actors are driven about 40 minutes to a hotel near the airport.
Throughout the day, the castle serves as the backdrop for various activities, including breakfast scenes, team lunches after missions, strategy meetings, and the well-known ’round table’ dismissals.
But once filming wraps, contestants leave one by one and return to their accommodation alone.
While filming the show, contestants are said to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Inverness Airport, with rooms available for as little as £53 per person each night.
This four-star hotel is located right next to the airport runway, and it’s mainly used for convenience, not for a luxurious experience.
The hotel offers a variety of amenities, including a restaurant, gym, meeting rooms, a convenience store, and a business center.
The Traitors US host Alan Cumming, 60, previously poked fun at the accommodation.
He told The Daily Beast that everyone involved stayed at the hotel inside Inverness Airport. He jokingly commented on the lack of luxury, saying, ‘You come to Scotland and end up at the Inverness airport hotel!’
Despite some complaints about living conditions on the show, Jonathan Ross, a former contestant on The Traitors, has said he was happy with his own accommodations.
I recently stayed at this hotel and wanted to share my experience – it was lovely! Everything was great, especially the food. Honestly, I couldn’t fault a thing!
The official Traitors X account replied simply: ‘Good to know.’
Jonathan confirmed that the Traitors did indeed return to the castle each evening to secretly meet in the turret.
He confirmed: ‘No. We wait there until all the Faithfuls have left.’
The BBC chose this hotel for its size, as it’s able to house both the show’s contestants and the people working on the production, according to The Mirror.
The report also stated that this arrangement lets producers keep track of and isolate players when they’re not filming.
Claudia Winkleman, the show’s host, has apparently shared that once filming is done, contestants are immediately sent to their private rooms and aren’t permitted to talk to each other or anyone else involved in the show.
Daily Mail has contacted the BBC for comment.
Fans of The Traitors were shocked that the Faithful contestants didn’t realize Rachel Duffy had revealed herself as one of the Traitors.
Host Claudia chose Rachel as a Traitor in episode one, along with Stephen Libby and Hugo Lodge.
Okay, so Fiona and Harriet already thought Rachel was a Traitor, which, honestly, I knew from the start! But now everyone’s realizing there was another clue they totally overlooked! It’s driving me crazy that they didn’t see it – it was SO obvious! I’m yelling at the TV, seriously!
In episode seven, Rachel revealed to the other contestants that she’d been training with a retired FBI agent for the past few months.
This includes the ability to detect deception and read subtle facial expressions.
During the breakfast scene in episode nine, Rachel announced she’d figured out who the Traitor was, but she wouldn’t reveal their identity until the roundtable discussion later that evening.
The other players appeared to believe her, and they all worked with her to expose Ellie Buckley as one of the Faithful.
One fan expressed their frustration online, saying they were still bothered by a storyline from the previous week where Rachel hinted at a revelation during a group discussion, stemming from someone else’s error.
Someone else pointed out that they’ve forgotten about Rachel previously hinting she had information to share at a later meeting, which ultimately resulted in Ellie being unfairly exiled.
A third said: ‘Surely this has to throw suspicion on Rachel!
It’s strange how the conversation shifted from Fiona and Harriet to Ellie, especially since no one was really discussing her before. And then it turns out Ellie was telling the truth all along – it’s time to acknowledge what’s been obvious.
One viewer pointed out on social media, “How is no one questioning Rachel’s intense focus on Ellie on #TheTraitors? It seems suspicious.”
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been noticing a lot of discussion about someone claiming expertise while seemingly misrepresenting their background and vote counts. It’s concerning to see claims of FBI training being made without verification, and it’s important to question inconsistencies between reported results and actual votes. Transparency and honesty are key when presenting yourself as an authority, and it’s vital that we all critically evaluate the information we’re presented with.
