Taylor Swift is an awkward subject for Tom Hiddleston, even ten years on from their split.

The actor and singer had a short romance lasting about three months in 2016. He was famously photographed wearing a shirt that said “I Love TS” while they were together.

Being one of the world’s most famous singers, Taylor Swift is an ex that’s hard to escape, as Tom Hiddleston found out when he appeared on The Graham Norton Show for the New Year’s Eve broadcast.

I was watching a recent episode of a BBC chat show and it was lovely to see Tom Hardy chatting with the incredibly talented Laura Dern. They were both there to talk about the second series of Tom’s hugely popular drama, ‘The Night Manager’, and it was a really engaging conversation!

Graham highlighted Laura’s strong connection with Taylor, noting they’re close friends and that Laura appeared in Taylor’s 2022 ‘Bejeweled’ music video.

Laura enthusiastically praised her friend, then shared a funny story about her experiences with Taylor Swift fans. Throughout the story, Tom remained completely expressionless, sitting right next to her.

You know, I’ll never forget a family trip to Hawaii. We were having a wonderful time when we accidentally wandered onto what looked exactly like a Jurassic Park set! My kids and I were actually a little worried people would recognize me and start crowding around – it was a funny moment, but definitely a bit surreal!

At that instant, I felt like the most well-known person in history. I told my kids, “This is going to be really tough for Mom, you guys.”

I was shocked when three teenage girls suddenly started screaming and ran up to me. They recognized me right under the Jurassic Park sign, yelling, ‘Oh my god, you’re the girl from the Taylor Swift video!’

The story did prompt laughter from Tom, but viewers were left cringing at the awkward connection.

One viewer commented on the BBC show’s YouTube channel, ‘You can tell everything just by looking at his face.’ Another agreed, adding, ‘He definitely looks really uncomfortable sitting there.’

I shouldn’t be finding this amusing, but it’s hard not to notice how uncomfortable Tom gets whenever Taylor is brought up. They dated a long time ago, and honestly, it’s probably nothing, everyone seems okay with it… but it’s just funny to watch him squirm.

It’s been ten years since Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston had a short-lived romance. Now, Taylor is engaged to NFL player Travis Kelce, and Tom is engaged to actress and author Zawe Ashton, with whom he has two young children.

Okay, so Tom is exactly like Zawe when it comes to talking about them! It’s adorable, honestly. He barely ever mentions her, which just makes me even more obsessed. The only time he’s said anything substantial, as far as I know, was back in 2022 when someone actually asked about her, and even then it was just ‘I’m very happy!’ Three little words, but seriously, it’s everything. They’re so private, and I respect it… but I also desperately want to know everything, naturally!

When Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift were a couple in 2015, he acted quite differently than he does now. They were first seen together publicly in mid-June, shortly after Swift had ended her relationship with DJ Calvin Harris.

By the end of the month, Taylor and Tom had met each other’s families – Taylor met his mother in England, and he met her parents in Nashville. Photos of these family gatherings, along with pictures of their double dates with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, quickly appeared online and in the tabloids.

That summer, they were inseparable and received a lot of media attention. When they broke up, Tom had to publicly state that their relationship wasn’t just for show.
