The Unholy Union need the win the most at WWE Bash in Berlin
As a seasoned gamer of WWE for over two decades now, I’ve seen my fair share of tag teams come and go. But when it comes to the Unholy Union – Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre – I can’t help but feel they’re on the verge of a heartbreaking breakup.
The WWE Bash in Berlin is scheduled for August 31st, marking another significant international showcase expected to be a sell-out success with glowing feedback from spectators. GUNTHER will headline the main event, while the entire five-match lineup promises to deliver quality entertainment from beginning to end. Among all the performers, The Unholy Union is the act that appears to require a win the most.
Indeed, among the illustrious names such as Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and more, it’s Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre who are in dire need of victories. The reason being, all other competitors on this show have already solidified their positions within the WWE roster, making them established figures. If Dawn and Fyre don’t hold the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, they risk losing their spots and potentially returning to catering duty.
At WWE Clash at the Castle, Fyre and Dawn claimed the championship titles following a thrilling triple threat match. This victory was particularly meaningful for Fyre, who had recently lost her mother, adding emotional weight to the occasion. Prior to this, their only televised match was on June 10th’s episode of WWE Raw, marking their first appearance on TV since the Elimination Chamber battle royale in February. Before becoming champions, they had only three televised matches during the entire year, showcasing the thoughtful planning and effective booking that preceded their title win.
Reviewing that data reveals clearly that without a solution for maintaining titles post-PLE (Pay-Per-View Event), such an action would result in the limited opportunities for Dawn and Fyre, as their roles would be significantly diminished. Triple H has shown remarkable skill in shaping WWE Raw and SmackDown’s creative direction. However, there is still work to be done regarding expanding the women’s division beyond just title storylines, similar to the men’s division, which currently boasts numerous narratives not centered around championships. Unfortunately, the women’s division has yet to receive this level of attention and diversity in storytelling. As a result, if Dawn and Fyre were not holding titles, they would have very few opportunities for engaging plots.
Is the women’s tag team segment not being fully developed as it ought to be? It seems there’s some progress, but it’s still lacking. Last night on WWE Raw, Damage CTRL and PFC clashed again, but there aren’t many rivalries brewing elsewhere on either show. Not at all. Could other teams be utilized? Absolutely. Duos like Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae, Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, Katana Chance and Kayden Carter, and others are ready to step up. Unfortunately, they aren’t getting the spotlight. If Dawn and Fyre don’t enter a title program soon, they may find themselves in the same predicament.
On the lineup for the Bash in Berlin, there’s an impressive array of star talent. Among them, The Unholy Union is particularly eager for success. Their entire career trajectory hinges on this win.
