As a fan who’s been following The Umbrella Academy since its debut, I must say that this quirky superhero series has been a breath of fresh air in the sea of predictable superhero stories. It’s not just about saving the world; it’s about a dysfunctional family trying to keep their act together while preventing apocalyptic events. And let’s be real, who doesn’t love a good dance sequence now and then?

The Umbrella Academy recently concluded its fourth and last season on Netflix, leaving many viewers displeased with what they perceived as a rushed finale. However, I’m grateful that this unique superhero series graced our screens because there wasn’t anything quite similar elsewhere.

As a dedicated fan, I’d say that “The Umbrella Academy” is my go-to for a family of super-powered siblings who seem to be more trouble than they’re worth! They’re often the cause of global catastrophes, only to then heroically save the day. There’s plenty of witty bickering and dance breaks thrown in for good measure. The series has been popular since its debut, and last week, it ranked second on Netflix’s TV charts, trailing A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. With the fourth season premiering towards the end of the week, Deadline anticipates it will claim the top spot next week.

The TV series “The Umbrella Academy” is derived from a comic book created by artists Gabriel Bá and writer Gerard Way, who is famously the lead vocalist of the band “My Chemical Romance.” This tidbit might not be widely known; it’s interesting to note that actor Aidan Gallagher (portraying Five) discovered this connection only after he had secured the role. As Gallagher shared with Variety, “When I found out and connected the dots, it all made perfect sense.” He would channel the energy of “The Black Parade” album every day on his way to set, listening to help embody the rage and chaos of his character Five.

When asked about what he’ll miss most from the show, Way expressed, “To be honest, I truly cherished their infectious energy. They are an amazing team who enjoy each other’s company. Since I didn’t hinder their fun – it was a conscious decision – this vibrant energy grew into something unique and self-sustaining.”

I mean, honestly, it’s a gift to be able to make art and for people to support it so you can keep making it. I never take that for granted.

Elliot Page (Viktor Hargreeves) mentioned that he felt strange when it was time to bid farewell to his co-stars and crew, who have been like family to him after working together for many years. He added that the impact of parting didn’t truly sink in until later.

David Castañeda (Diego Hargreeves) found it hard to bid farewell and even considered fleeing after finishing the final scene. “I hadn’t quite realized that this was our last time working together during the final scene we shot. I think it will sink in more as time goes by, but for now, I find myself appreciating the moment,” he expressed.

Regarding Way and Bá, they are currently developing another installment of “The Umbrella Academy” comic series. They plan to deviate from the TV show’s format in some significant ways after this upcoming volume, ensuring that it offers a unique experience distinct from its on-screen counterpart. This is what Gerard Way mentioned during an interview.
