Scrolling through Tana Ramsay’s Instagram, you’ll notice she rarely posts about her daughter Holly’s relationship with Adam Peaty – it’s surprisingly hard to find any mention of it.
News outlets haven’t reported on her wedding to the Olympic swimmer, which took place last week at Bath Abbey. It’s also difficult to find recent photos of the couple; the last one Tana posted was back in 2023 when they were newly engaged.
Adam’s proposal to Holly was, said Tana, ‘simply the best news’.
Since then, she’s generally avoided speaking publicly about their relationship. It had become very public and caused a lot of drama, especially after a family disagreement about wedding attire led to the groom’s mother, Caroline, being disinvited from the wedding.
Gordon Ramsay, 59, publicly celebrated the wedding on Instagram, telling his 20 million followers how happy he was to walk the bride down the aisle and welcome his new son-in-law, Adam Ramsay Peaty. However, his wife, Tana, hasn’t said anything publicly about the event.
Tana, 51, usually shares positive updates about her six children – Megan, 27, the twins Holly and Jack, 25, Tilly, 24, Oscar, five, and Jesse, two – but she’s been privately managing difficult things at home during a very challenging time.
Friends describe her as ‘Tana the peacemaker,’ which perfectly reflects her personality. Those close to this dedicated mother say she’s always prioritized teaching her children strong family values and cherishes a peaceful, happy home above all else.
Those close to Tana say she’s committed to raising polite and well-mannered children, despite their fortunate background. They believe she’s very distressed by the current conflict between her daughter’s husband and his mother.
The disagreement began when Holly reportedly disapproved of the dress Caroline had picked for her wedding.
The situation quickly worsened after Caroline wasn’t included in Holly’s pre-wedding celebration and then uninvited to the wedding itself. As a result, Caroline, Adam’s father, and his two brothers all missed the extravagant wedding.
Only Adam’s sister, Bethany, who was a bridesmaid, attended.
Gordon made a pointed remark about the Peaty family during his speech. Reports suggest that while speaking at a private event at Kin House in the Cotswolds, he complimented Holly’s appearance and told Adam Peaty he was fortunate to have her.
He reportedly then said to Adam: ‘Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to.’
Then, in an uncomfortable dig at Adam’s parents, he told Holly: ‘Shame you don’t have the same.’
His remark shocked many people and deeply upset the Peaty family. Last week, Caroline, who made significant sacrifices to help Adam achieve his Olympic dream, shared with the Daily Mail: ‘Their words really hurt me, it feels like a deep emotional wound.’
Interestingly, Tana understands family conflict better than most. She personally experienced the pain and difficulty when her father, Chris Hutcheson, had a major falling out with Gordon and was subsequently fired from his position as CEO of Gordon Ramsay Holdings – a story we’ll explore further.
A close friend describes Tana as incredibly kind, warm, and genuine. Being a mother is her greatest joy, and she’s dedicated herself to raising her children to be good people with strong values and good manners. She always strives to teach them right from wrong.
Gordon is known for being bold and independent, while Tana is more of a nurturing and peaceful presence. It’s truly upsetting that they’ve fallen out so badly, to the point where their mother won’t even be at their wedding.
The new interview with Holly, published on Vogue’s website yesterday with exclusive photos from the event, showed no indication of any problems or unhappiness.
Holly seemed genuinely pleased by her father’s outspoken speech, calling it ‘amazing’ and saying she was ‘overjoyed’. She even shared a photo of herself and Peaty laughing while he spoke.
She described listening to her father’s speech and looking at the guests, feeling deeply moved by the love and happiness she saw all around the room.
It’s unclear how Tana reacted to her husband’s teasing remark. Although she was likely delighted to hear him praise their daughter, friends say she dislikes conflict and arguments. They believe she hopes the situation will eventually improve and everyone will get along.
It wouldn’t be the first time Tana has brought an emollient approach to a family row.
People close to her say she really wanted to repair her relationship with her father. He was sent to jail for six months in 2017 after being convicted of working with others to illegally access the computer systems of Gordon’s companies between 2010 and 2011.
Following his dismissal as CEO of Gordon Ramsay Holdings, Hutcheson attempted to access the company’s computers over 2,000 times, creating a public scandal that caused significant distress to Tana. Despite the pain caused, I’ve been told that he and his daughter reconciled quickly.
Tana, a qualified Montessori teacher, has generally stayed out of the public eye since she began her relationship with Gordon in the 1990s. She briefly appeared on the reality show Dancing On Ice in 2010, but found the resulting attention deeply embarrassing.
According to a friend, she went home and returned to her quiet life after being eliminated in the fourth episode.
She was deeply hurt by some awful things people wrote about her. Tana is a very down-to-earth person who prefers being at home with her kids.
In 1998, she and her partner welcomed their first child, Megan, born through IVF. The following year, they had twins, Holly and Jack, also conceived using IVF.
Then along came Tilly, the couple’s only child to be conceived naturally.
In 2016, Tana and Gordon experienced the heartbreaking loss of their son, Rocky, due to a miscarriage at 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Tana had another son, Oscar, three years after her previous child. In 2023, at 49 years old, she welcomed her sixth child, a son named Jesse.
Gordon pursued his career internationally, while Tana managed things at home. When their children were young, she was often spotted – looking a bit stressed – in the Wandsworth area of London, known for its many young families.
She once had three children all under the age of three, but she never hired a nanny. A friend recalls seeing her pushing a double stroller while trying to keep up with another child who was running around.
Honestly, I’m dying to know what Tana thinks about everything going on with the Peatys! It’s all anyone’s talking about. And, ugh, I’ve heard whispers that the Ramsays have been looking down on Adam’s family because of where they come from – it’s just awful if that’s true, and it makes me so mad! I really want to understand how Tana’s feeling about all of this drama.
According to a source close to the Ramsay family, she avoids conflict and has been a strong support for Victoria Beckham throughout her difficult disagreement with her son, Brooklyn. The situation has been upsetting for everyone involved.
Both Holly and Adam haven’t come across very well throughout this situation. Adam is being criticized for seeming ungrateful to his mother, who consistently supported his swimming. And Holly has been described as stuck-up.
The claim gained more attention after the couple’s wedding photos were published yesterday on Vogue’s website. They had reportedly made a deal with the magazine for exclusive publishing rights, which likely contributed to the increased visibility.
Photos revealed Holly wearing her stunning lace Elie Saab wedding dress. She’d covered it with a white cape as she walked to Bath Abbey with her father, likely to keep the details exclusive for a magazine deal.
In her interview, Holly shared that she found inspiration for her wedding dress from the iconic gowns worn by Kate Middleton at her 2011 wedding to Prince William and Grace Kelly in 1956.
Holly was joined by her sisters, Megan and Tilly, and Adam’s sister, Bethany. They were all dressed in Victoria Beckham bridesmaid gowns.
Also there was Holly’s twin Jack, a Royal Marine, who wore his ceremonial military uniform.
During the interview, Holly not only thanked her father for always being there for her, but also expressed her appreciation for Tana, who had helped her find the ideal wedding dress and even looked after little Jesse during the shopping trips.
For her first dance, Holly chose to wear her mother’s wedding dress from 1996, explaining she’d always dreamed of incorporating it into her special day.
The dress was stunning – made of silk with a V-neck and a delicate string of pearls around the collar. It fit perfectly right off the rack, with no need for any adjustments. She also shared a funny moment: her mother was busy exercising on the Peloton when she first wore it, and immediately started crying!
Of the unpleasantness with her in-laws, there was – unsurprisingly – no mention.
The interview included many happy details, like how their wedding breakfast – a beef wellington – was organized by the staff at her father’s upscale Savoy Grill restaurant in London.
Holly shared that she was wearing shoes by Amina Muaddi, a gift from Adam last Christmas. She also carried a unique Chanel bag – a shell-shaped minaudiere from a limited 2016 collection that she found online.
Holly praised her mother’s close friend, Victoria Beckham (known as Posh Spice), calling her ‘one of her favorite women,’ and shared a photo of the three of them together: herself, Victoria, and her mother, Tana.
The couple have not, as yet, given any other publications permission to use the photographs.
Holly and Adam are enjoying a luxurious honeymoon in Mauritius, which was generously gifted to them by Holly’s parents as a wedding present.
They will surely be glad of the break from constant chatter about the family feud.
Honestly, I don’t know if things will ever truly get better, but if anyone can fix this mess, it’s Tana. She’s the only one I see who has a chance of making things right.
