The Traitors winner Rachel Duffy reveals she has spent the past 10 years writing a book about ‘murder and lies’ – and spills the truth about her FBI training

If there is a single player who has defined this series of The Traitors, it is Rachel Duffy.

Oh my gosh, I can’t even! On Friday, she did it! She was the first woman EVER to win the UK version of The Traitor, and not just win, but as a Traitor! It’s incredible! She and Stephen Libby totally pulled it off, and they split the £95,750 prize money. I’m seriously obsessed with her gameplay!

After gaining popularity on the fourth season of a BBC show, Rachel has shared with The Mail on Sunday that she’s been working on her debut novel for the last decade and is now preparing to publish it.

She revealed she’s finally ready to publish her book, a murder mystery filled with lies, after spending ten years writing it. She jokingly added that the subject matter felt fitting given the circumstances.

This young adult fantasy novel features Irish redheads, a magical forest, and a touch of mystery involving murder.

Sources close to the show have revealed that Rachel, a popular contestant and mother of three from Newry, Northern Ireland, is expected to earn a fortune and potentially become the wealthiest competitor on the show so far.

The communications director is considered one of the greatest players in the show’s history, largely because she’s so good at making friends with other contestants.

And Rachel made no secret of the fact she wanted to win the show.

She claimed the four months she spent completing FBI online training helped her, as she shared with the other contestants at the castle.

‘I was trained by a former FBI agent so I did one of his training courses, but I did lie.

Rachel explained that she’d told her colleagues it was a four-month online course, but it was actually much shorter – more like a one-day course with an accompanying ebook. She admitted to exaggerating a bit, but it worked to her advantage because she could refer to it later as something she’d already delivered.

She laughed about the attention, saying the online memes were funny. But she quickly added that she has no plans to quit her job and join the FBI!

Rachel credits her mother, Anne, with inspiring her to apply for The Traitors, and Anne will undoubtedly be incredibly proud.

On last Friday’s show, Rachel explained she joined the program for her mother, Anne, who is 70 and lives with both dementia and Parkinson’s disease, which she was diagnosed with in her forties. Anne is a big fan of the show and jokingly told Rachel not to let herself get eliminated.

Rachel shared that if she won the prize money, she’d use it to spoil Anne and create lasting memories together. She was incredibly emotional when she discovered she’d won £47,875.

She said she hasn’t spent the money yet and wants to discuss fun activities with her kids, husband, and mother as a family.

I was really touched when Rachel gave an update on her mum, Anne. She explained it’s been tough because they filmed the show back in May, and Anne wasn’t as unwell then. Sadly, her health has declined since, and she’s just not up to travelling much these days.

I’m planning something special with my mother, and I’m really excited to just sit down with her and ask her what she wants to do. I have no idea what she’ll say, but I’m looking forward to finding out and making her happy!

Rachel and Stephen were the first pair to win The Traitors, even though Rachel initially believed Stephen might betray her to win all the money for himself.

She explained that he ignored her, and she immediately felt betrayed. She told herself to stay strong and hold her head high, reminding herself that simply being there meant she had already succeeded and deserved to leave with pride.

He quickly changed his attitude, and I immediately fell for him. My feelings flipped from anger to affection in an instant, and the whole thing was incredibly intense.

From the start, Stephen and Jack were a loyal pair. Even though Stephen knew Jack might vote Rachel out, he made a generous choice to stay true to their agreement. They honored a promise made earlier in the game not to betray each other, and ultimately, they shared the prize money.

Rachel said her victory was well-earned. She emphasized that she played the game completely and didn’t take any shortcuts, and she was happy to see her dedication result in a win.

The final episode drew an average of 9.4 million viewers, peaking at 9.6 million, and captured 54.9% of the audience. This is the largest overnight viewership for any program since the finale of The Celebrity Traitors in November 2025, and represents the biggest overnight audience ever for a regular, non-celebrity version of the show.
