The Traitors star Charlotte Berman is pregnant after sharing fertility battles and hopes to spend the prize money on IVF

Charlotte Berman, known for appearing on The Traitors, has announced she and her husband, Alexander, are expecting their first baby.

The public relations expert from Hampshire became well-known for pretending to have a Welsh accent while appearing on the TV show The Traitors earlier this year.

Although Charlotte didn’t win the competition, she shared that she would have used the prize money for IVF treatment, as she has personally faced challenges with fertility.

Charlotte reflected on a wonderful year in a New Year’s Eve Instagram post, and hinted at an even more exciting 2027 as she and Alexander get ready to have their first baby.

She wrote that 2025 started with a memorable Welsh accent and an unbelievably wild time on the show Traitors.

Life has been incredibly busy, and it’s all leading up to our biggest adventure yet! We’re so happy to share that we’re expecting a baby this spring. We’re excited and taking things one day at a time.

I always saw Charlotte as incredibly clever, even if her strategies for the Traitorhood on the BBC show were a bit…ruthless. I really admired her skill and think she deserved a lot of respect for how she played the game. Some called her an ‘evil genius,’ and honestly, I get why!

She portrayed a cheerful, Welsh personality, and her friendly demeanor and accent helped her make friends easily with the other contestants.

For much of the show, Charlotte seemed trustworthy. However, she was later revealed to be a Traitor, and viewers discovered a completely different side of her – one filled with lies, underhanded plans, and betrayal of her former allies.

It was heartbreaking to watch her get voted out in the final round. After making it so far, the other four players decided she had to go, and she was eliminated from the game. It was a tough moment for me as a fan, but that’s the nature of the competition!

Before the final competition, she was asked what she’d do with the prize money if she won. She said she’d love to go on a safari, and also use some of the money to help with the costs of having a baby.

She then joked: ‘But maybe the safari holiday will negate the need.’ 

Before the finale, Charlotte confessed that maintaining the false accent had been incredibly tiring and she worried it might have changed her brain long-term.

She admitted that if she ever appears in another TV show, she’ll definitely avoid using a fake Welsh accent. Maintaining it was incredibly tiring and may have even changed the way her brain works! Still, she wonders if all the effort was worth it.

Charlotte added, ‘Honestly, even though I come across as bubbly, I actually struggle with self-doubt. I’m really proud of myself for everything I’ve accomplished during this experience.’

I’ve formed real connections with the other players and felt comfortable being myself, even while playing a game where everyone is trying to mislead each other.

I’m proud of how I’ve stood up for myself and stayed true to my values when participating in discussions and challenges, especially when aiming to approach things fairly and honestly.

Charlotte loves the show and actually applied to be on the second season, but she never received a response.

I was a huge fan of the show from the start, so I applied to be on the second series after enjoying the first one. Unfortunately, I never received a response. I think the second series was successful because everyone really grasped how to play the game.

I absolutely love this show! The main storyline is fantastic, but it’s the hidden secrets and mysteries that really grabbed me – I was shocked when they revealed the connection between Diane and Ross! It’s just really well done.
