Claudia Winkleman says the latest season of The Traitors is full of surprises that genuinely shocked her – and that’s saying something, considering she’s hosted the BBC show for a while now.
The popular BBC show is back on January 1st, and Claudia will be hosting again! Viewers throughout the UK will be thrilled.
The fourth season of The Traitors has released a new trailer hinting at a shocking development: the appearance of a shadowy figure in a red cloak.
Claudia recently told The Mirror that she screams during a surprising twist in the new season of the show, ahead of its return and the release of the latest trailer.
She said: ‘Did they keep the bit in when I scream?’
I got a really uneasy feeling, because I had a sense of what was about to happen.

‘And all I can say is that it absolutely doesn’t.’
She explained that while the celebrity version of the show featured contestants being on their best behavior, the upcoming series with regular people is expected to have more intense and lively discussions.
Claudia admitted that the game gets ‘brutal’ and the contestants play with their hearts.
A sneak peek of the new trailer revealed exciting news: the show will introduce a fresh red cloak for the Traitors, marking the first time a new color has been used.
The ad featured a Christmas dinner table as a Grandfather Clock chimed and a candle was put out.
An ominous red figure then approached, holding a lantern in their hand.
The show is expected to begin with a surprising twist: all 22 contestants will reportedly make it through the first episode without elimination.
Speaking in a voiceover, Claudia said: ‘Have yourself a merry little Christmas… I’m joking.’

Wearing a red cloak, the Traitor set the lantern down, then looked directly at the camera and signaled for silence with a finger to their lips.
According to a source, it’s completely unclear what the meaning is behind the red ‘Traitor’s’ cloak, what the person wearing it will do, how they’ll impact the game, or even if there’s only one person with that role.
Okay, look, I know this new take on the Traitor is going to completely shake things up. Seriously, it’s not just a little change – it’s a whole new level of gameplay. I’ve been following this for ages, and trust me, it’s going to be a game-changer again. I can feel it!
‘The new twist creates distrust and treachery like never seen before.
Those in charge understand that audiences and players are very familiar with the game, so they need to constantly introduce new challenges and surprises to keep things interesting.
Oh my gosh, earlier this year was INSANE! They actually took nineteen celebrities – can you believe it?! – and locked them up in Ardross Castle to play the game! I was glued to the screen, of course. It was everything I’d ever dreamed of!
Claudia chose chat show host Jonathan Ross, singer Cat Burns, and comedian Alan Carr to be Traitors in the game.
The incredibly popular show attracted over 14 million viewers who watched as Alan cleverly deceived David Olusoga and Nick Mohammed in his quest for victory.
Although there was talk of potential celebrity contestants for another season, the network has now officially announced the show will return in 2026.
Claudia is back to host a new group of players as they compete in a game filled with trust and betrayal.
New episodes of the show’s companion series, Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, will be back on BBC Two and available to listen to on BBC Sounds.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment at the BBC, announced that a second series of the show will return in 2026. Celebrities will once again compete in the castle, testing their ability to charm, strategize, and ultimately outlast each other. The new series is expected to be just as captivating as the first.
With the return of Uncloaked and the recent announcement that The Traitors has boosted Scotland’s economy, there’s a lot to be happy about.
The director of BBC Scotland also stated that ‘The Traitors’ has been a huge hit on television, and they’re thrilled to be filming several versions of the show in Scotland.
We are delighted with this report, which clearly shows the positive economic impact of filming ‘The Traitors’ in Scotland. By collaborating with our partners, we plan to build on this success and support the continued, sustainable growth of Scotland’s creative industries.
The Traitors returns on New Year’s Day on BBC One and iPlayer.
