Charlotte Chilton, known from the show The Traitors, has shared that she needs brain surgery. She went to the emergency room after experiencing a severe trigeminal neuralgia attack.
Trigeminal neuralgia causes intense, brief episodes of facial pain. People often describe it as a sudden, sharp, shooting pain, similar to an electric shock, that affects the jaw, teeth, or gums.
Those affected by this condition can have painful episodes that last for days, weeks, or even months. In the most serious instances, these attacks can occur hundreds of times each day.
The NHS explains that trigeminal neuralgia can be incredibly challenging to live with. It can seriously affect someone’s well-being, potentially leading to issues like weight loss, feeling alone, and becoming depressed.
Charlotte has previously discussed her struggles with a painful medical condition and revealed she had brain surgery in her twenties. She recently shared that the condition has flared up severely again.
The 32-year-old celebrity shared on Sunday that her symptoms caused her intense physical pain, and sadly explained why the condition is often referred to as ‘the suicide disease’.
I’m back in the hospital and need another surgery to manage my trigeminal neuralgia, as many of you know I’ve been working to raise awareness about this condition. I shared a photo from my hospital bed to let you all know.

Brain surgery is understandably scary, but it offers lasting relief and lets me move forward with my life.
I recently had a severe health issue and was taken to the emergency room. The incredible neurology team at QE hospital has been caring for me, and today I’m having surgery to hopefully end my physical pain.
To my followers in Tennessee, please don’t give up on finding a support system that works for you. Dealing with this illness is incredibly difficult, and it’s often called ‘the suicide disease’ because of how challenging it can be. I’m so thankful for the love and support my family and friends have given me this past week.
Sending good wishes and hoping everything goes well! I’ll update you after my surgery. #trigeminalneuralgia #trigeminalneuralgiaawareness #trigeminalneuralgiawarrior #neuro #neurologist #surgery #nhs #nhsheroes
She revealed last January that she was so deeply affected by her painful condition that she had thoughts of suicide.
After departing the show, the TV personality publicly discussed her long-term health issue, explaining it has prevented her from fully enjoying many experiences.
Last year, Charlotte told Metro.co.uk she had been feeling suicidal due to chronic pain. She explained that she’d had a very difficult time since undergoing brain surgery in her twenties to address her medical condition.
Charlotte described the unpredictability of her pain, explaining that it could range from manageable with medication to excruciating – so intense that she’s felt driven to desperate measures.

As a lifestyle expert focused on well-being, I often talk about invisible illnesses, and this one is particularly heartbreaking. It’s often called the ‘suicide disease’ – a truly grim nickname, but sadly earned. People who suffer from this condition experience pain so intense and unrelenting that, tragically, a significant number end their lives. It’s widely considered the most agonizing pain condition a person can endure, and it’s vital we talk about it and offer support to those affected.
Charlotte tearfully shared that her condition had made her feel like she’d lost out on life, explaining, ‘I felt hopeless and was at my lowest point.’
Charlotte’s wife, Laura, found a doctor to help the reality star, but unfortunately, things got much worse instead of better.
She was in a car accident and suffered a head injury, which unfortunately brought back her previous pain. She was immediately taken to the hospital for another surgery.
Charlotte described feeling extremely anxious during the procedure, which was intended to help her. However, her recovery took much longer the second time around, and she experienced temporary memory problems.
To recover, she needed to relearn basic skills like eating, speaking, and walking, and also improve her coordination.
Charlotte recently shared an update about her surgery on social media. This follows her decision last month to reduce her online presence while she continues to navigate a public dispute with singer Conor Maynard regarding their child’s paternity.
The celebrity revealed last June that Conor, age 32, was reportedly the father of her baby, conceived during a brief encounter. She gave birth to baby Penelope 13 months ago and described the child as a ‘miracle’.
Okay, so everyone’s saying he’s not Charlotte’s baby’s father, can you believe it?! They did two paternity tests, TWO! But I know in my heart – and Charlotte knows it too – that he IS the dad. Those tests have to be wrong. It just… it makes no sense otherwise! He and Charlotte, they have a connection, and I refuse to believe it’s not real, even with all this noise about his engagement to Kitty Bertrand. It’s a conspiracy, I tell you!
Recently, Conor accused Charlotte of having a relationship with her “Traitors” co-star, Jonny Holloway, and even suggested he might be the father of her child. Charlotte strongly denied these claims, stating that Conor was her only partner at the time.
In November, she posted a detailed message on Instagram explaining how the situation had affected her mental health and announced she was taking a break to focus on her well-being.
Charlotte recently gave an interview with The Sun where she finally spoke frankly about everything, hoping to clear up rumors and share what really happened.
This has always been about my daughter – knowing who her father is, ensuring her birth certificate accurately reflects that, and allowing her to understand her family’s medical history.
Success wasn’t about wealth or recognition for me. I’m incredibly grateful for my supportive and loving family, who have always been there for me. I’ve shared my experiences honestly and truthfully…
I’m prioritizing my own health and, above all, protecting my daughter. I won’t let either of us be exploited for someone else’s benefit.

As Conor requested, everyone should respond to this news with kindness, remembering that a child is involved.
‘Sadly that reminder seems to have been forgotten – by him and by others…
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has offered kindness, understanding, and support during this difficult time. Your compassion has truly meant the world to me.
Charlotte has consistently denied having slept with Jonny, maintaining that Conor was the only person she was intimate with during that period.
