The top 8 teams for the Esports World Cup 2025 Dota 2 tournament are locked in
After the preliminary knockout stage, or the first round, we said goodbye to four participating teams – Execration, Shopify Rebellion, HEROIC, and Virtus.pro. These were the first four teams that left the competition. Yet another elimination phase was approaching, and unfortunately for 4 more teams, their hopes of winning at EWC 2025 would come crashing down.
As the top eight became visible, teams entered the second stage of the elimination round. Out of those who advanced from round one, just one would proceed to the playoffs. A shared trait among all series during the elimination phase was that no team ever reached game three. Each match concluded with a 2-0 sweep instead.
Initially, Xtreme Gaming succumbed to PARIVISION’s relentless pressure in the competition, leaving no room for progress. Following this, it was Team Yandex and Gaimin Gladiators’ turn to face off. The reigning champions sailed through their match effortlessly, maintaining their title bid. Meanwhile, Talon Esports, the last beacon of Southeast Asia, faced defeat at the hands of Tundra Esports.
In the end, just one more round was left to play, with Natus Vincere aiming to pull off an unexpected victory against Team Falcons. Regrettably for NAVI, they failed to mount any significant resistance against their rivals. Stanislav “Marlr1ne” Potorak’s performance in the position 1 role was exceptional, overpowering, and leaving NAVI trailing far behind his team.
