The top 5 shows to stream this week (July 29-Aug. 2)

As a dedicated gamer and avid streamer, I’m always on the lookout for the newest and most intriguing shows to add to my watchlist. And this week, we have quite the lineup! From crime dramas to true crime mysteries, there’s something for everyone.

As a passionate binge-watcher with years of experience exploring the vast world of streaming services, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about this week’s lineup. Before delving into our top two recommendations, feast your eyes on the following list showcasing all five must-see shows. Most notably, many titles are gracing our screens at the beginning of the month!

  • Women in Blue on Apple TV+, July 31
  • Unsolved Mysteries season 4 on Netflix, July 31
  • Batman: Caped Crusader on Prime Video, Aug. 1
  • A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder on Netflix, Aug. 1
  • Unstable season 2 on Netflix, Aug. 1

If you have the chance to watch five notable shows on streaming that we strongly recommend, but if you can only manage to watch a couple this week, here are our top suggestions!

Women in Blue on Apple TV+

Before the month comes to an end, Apple TV+ will treat us to “Women in Blue” ( “_Las Azules_” ), a Spanish-language crime drama produced by Fernando Rovzar, renowned for helming “Hotel Cocaine.” I’m thrilled about this production because it boasts an all-Hispanic cast and crew. Moreover, its intriguing storyline is based on real events – though certain elements may be heightened for dramatic effect, “Women in Blue” draws inspiration from the true accounts of Mexico’s pioneering female police force.

In the 1970s, a female police force was established as a publicity move to draw media attention away from something else. According to the Apple TV+ series, the government aimed to conceal a serial killer terrorizing the city from the public. The show’s cast includes Barbara Mori, Amorita Rasgado, Ximena Sarinana, and Natalia Tellez. The first two episodes will be available on Apple TV+ on July 31, with new episodes premiering weekly thereafter, culminating in the finale on September 25.

Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix

For me, Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries” series is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I’m drawn to true crime and unsolved mysteries like a moth to a flame. Yet, the uncertainty of these cases leaving us without answers can be frustrating and even stressful at times. However, with Netflix bringing these cases to a wider audience, there’s renewed hope that someone may come forward with new information, finally providing closure for these long-standing enigmas.

Approximately two years have passed since the last aired season, and starting on July 31, Wednesday, new episodes of Unsolved Mysteries will be released as part of season 5. A hint about volume 4 suggests that it will feature “one of the most infamous unsolved cases in history.”
