The Thing: Remastered Gameplay Showcases the Revamped 2002 Horror Cult Classic
As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for survival horror games that tap into my deepest fears and paranoia, I can hardly contain my excitement about The Thing: Remastered! Having grown up on the original 1982 John Carpenter film and its 2002 video game adaptation, this faithful restoration brings back fond memories of sleepless nights and jump scares that still send a shiver down my spine.
Nightdive Studios has unveiled fresh gameplay footage from the “The Thing: Remastered.” This sneak peek offers a detailed glimpse into the eagerly anticipated “authentic remake” of the 2002 cult favorite, set in the aftermath of the 1982 John Carpenter movie.
In “The Thing: Remastered,” you assume the role of Captain J.F. Blake from the US Army Special Forces, who is dispatched to investigate the mysterious events at Outpost #31. However, things don’t go as planned when Blake’s team is ambushed by an alien that infiltrates its host’s body. Consequently, what was supposed to be a rescue operation becomes a desperate struggle for survival.
In the heart of the frozen Arctic wilderness, I find myself in a chilling predicament with an alien entity roaming free. My mission? Lead my diverse band of non-player characters through the game’s eleven challenging stages to ensure our survival. Oh, and let me remind you, not all of us are human. To maintain sanity, I must keep a close eye on my own fear levels, as well as those of my crew, to prevent a wave of paranoia from sweeping over us.
With enhanced character models, textures, animations, and lighting effects, reaching up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second, The Thing: Remastered is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Take a look at the fresh gameplay demonstration below.
