The Sydney mansion that was the focus of a strange situation involving actor Yahoo Serious is now on the market.
The Palm Beach cottage, measuring 1,157 square meters and previously occupied by Serious despite a court order to leave, is now for sale at auction with an estimated price of $1.9 million.
This home, nestled amongst the trees and offering glimpses of Pittwater filled with boats, has been in the same family for over 60 years.
This property is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to create their dream home. It includes three bedrooms with wardrobes, a cozy kitchen with wooden finishes, and the potential to renovate or completely rebuild (subject to council approval).
The property is move-in ready, but also offers great potential for builders or renovators looking to take advantage of its fantastic location.
This property is in a fantastic location, just a short drive from the beach and Avalon Village. You’ll also be conveniently close to everything you need, like public transportation, parks, and the beautiful Currawong Avenue Reserve.

Earlier this year, the house gained national attention after 72-year-old Michael Serious was accused of illegally living there with his dog, a Jack Russell terrier. The property’s owner, 90-year-old Charles Phillip Porter, was staying in a nursing home at the time.
Even after the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal ordered him to move out by August 4th, the man stayed in the house for several weeks, arguing he was simply trying to get by, not illegally occupying the property.
This property is available again, offering a rare opportunity to own a historic home on Sydney’s northern beaches.
Last August, news emerged of a man named Serious who refused to leave a luxurious Sydney home, despite accusations that he was illegally occupying it.
Former film star Serious was interviewed on the show ‘A Current Affair’ and unexpectedly faced a confrontation from the property’s landlord.
Margaret Charlton is the landlord and holds power of attorney for the home’s owner.
She told ACA she needed to sell the property to pay for Porter’s mounting nursing home fees.
As I understand it from the court’s decision, I’ve been granted a stay of eviction – basically, I get to keep the property until August 4th. It’s a huge relief, and I’m thrilled to have this breathing room!

Margaret then entered the property, surprised to find Serious still inside.
Reporter Pippa Bradshaw explained to the actor that he had been living in the house while Margie attempted to sell it to cover the costs of Phillip’s long-term care.
‘He’s got dementia – he can sell the property,’ Serious flippantly replied.
When informed that Charlton couldn’t sell the property because Serious was living there, he strongly insisted he wasn’t illegally occupying it, but simply trying to get by.
The movers came to empty the house, but Serious stubbornly stayed put.
Despite preparing the house for sale by removing all the old furniture, Yahoo, a pet, is still refusing to leave, according to Charlton.
She added that the situation would soon be escalated if Serious continued to flout the court order.
In a July interview with the Daily Mail, Serious claimed he wasn’t living at the property illegally, even though a legal hearing had set a move-out date for him.

He first gained widespread recognition for his roles in the 1988 film Young Einstein and later in Reckless Kelly in 1993, a time when he was also known for his distinctive, unconventional hairstyle.
The months-long dispute over a beachfront property in a wealthy Australian suburb concluded in August with the eviction of the former movie star who had been living there.
The former movie star ultimately ended up with nowhere to live, his possessions crammed into his old BMW.
“He’s gone!” exclaimed Margie Charlton, the landlord who manages the property on behalf of its owner, Charles Phillip Porter. “We evicted him.”
Serious didn’t go quietly.
Margie explained that he called the police, claiming she was acting aggressively. When officers arrived, they told him he had to leave, saying, ‘You’re out of here.’
After police intervened, Serious left with his Jack Russell dog, Jingle.
The old car was still parked in the driveway, and Charlton said it was full of belongings, but completely broken down and unusable.
The Aussie actor allegedly left a trail of destruction in his wake.
‘He has left the house in a filthy state,’ Charlton said. ‘There is rotting food, it’s disgusting.’
After Serious departed, Charlton needed a lot of help from friends to clear everything out – she estimates they removed six truckloads of belongings.
She’s glad everything is finally finished after a long and difficult legal fight and stressful dealings with the celebrity regarding the house.
