The Summer I Turned Pretty shares release date for final season

The release date for the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty has been confirmed.

Season 3 of the Prime Video teen drama will premiere on 16 July, and contains 11 episodes.

It was announced earlier this year that the third season of the show would be its last.

What to Read Next

Although some viewers felt let down, it’s understandable considering there are merely three novels serving as the basis for the series, each novel corresponding to a single season. The author of these books, Jenny Han, is overseeing the television adaptation as its showrunner.

This drama series, titled officially, revolves around a heartfelt narrative centered on a love triangle involving a girl and her two brothers. It also delves into the dynamic relationships between mothers and their offspring, while highlighting the unwavering influence of strong female camaraderie. Essentially, it’s a journey of maturity as it explores first loves, initial heartaches, and the enchantment of that one exceptional summer.

At the close of season 2, it appeared that the love triangle was resolved when main character Belly (performed by Lola Tung) opted for laid-back Jeremiah (portrayed by Gavin Casalegno) instead of his intense sibling Conrad (played by Christopher Briney).

The third season will explore the consequences of that choice, much like the events portrayed in the “We’ll Always Have Summer” book.

At Digital Spy, we didn’t find the beginning of season 2 particularly appealing as we felt the initial three episodes (out of eight) were rather slow-moving, almost painstakingly so.

In the current moment, the wistful glances exchanged among Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah seem to lack depth or intensity.

We understand. The enthusiasm you once had is still present, but for us, that excitement seems to be gradually fading since the early days, similar to how a TV show might continue in subsequent seasons.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is available to stream on Prime Video. Season 3 premieres July 16.
