Daniela Melchior, known for playing Ratcatcher 2 in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, recently shared an unclear update about whether she’ll reprise the role in the new DC Universe. While her character was important in the original DCEU film, she hasn’t been in any other movies from that universe. Unlike John Cena’s Peacemaker and Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller, Melchior’s character hasn’t yet transitioned to the DCU.
Daniela Melchior talks Ratcatcher 2’s return possibility in DCU
The Portuguese actress recently discussed whether a sequel to Ratcatcher might happen in the new DC Universe.
Daniela Melchior, appearing in her first American film, The Suicide Squad, told ScreenRant she’d be happy to reprise her role if given the chance. She explained that she’s developed both personally and professionally since then, and while she still has an accent, it’s noticeably less pronounced than it was during filming.
The actor from Road House mentioned she’d like to revisit the character from Ratcatcher, perhaps as an older version, but decided not to think about it too much because it made her feel down.
So, I was reading up on Ratcatcher 2, and it turns out Daniela Melchior has been really hoping to reprise the role! She actually told Collider she’s ‘patiently waiting’ for James Gunn to reach out and ask her to come back – which, as a fan, is exactly what I want to hear! It’s good to know she’s eager to put the suit on again.
The actress, known for her role as Anaconda, shared that she’s hoping to play the character again, possibly in series like ‘Lanterns’ or ‘Peacemaker.’ She jokingly said she’s been actively wishing for it, adding, “Let’s just make it happen!”
In a recent conversation with Nestor Cine, Daniela Melchior shared her desire to play a new DC character in the DC Universe. She also expressed hope that her character, Ratcatcher 2, would return, and that audiences would learn more about the character’s story. Melchior jokingly said Ratcatcher 2 is currently ‘taking a nap’ but she’s eager to revisit the role.
It’s currently unconfirmed whether Ratcatcher 2 will appear in the new DC Universe. However, given that other actors from The Suicide Squad – including those who play Peacemaker, Emilia Harcourt, and Amanda Waller – have already been included in the DCU, it’s definitely a possibility.
