Thanks to Sal Saperstein, the freshman series “The Studio” is now the leading comedy at the Emmys, with a total of 13 awards.
Several popular comedies competed for the award this year, including last year’s winner, “Hacks,” and the previous winner, “The Bear.” Other nominees were “Abbott Elementary,” “Nobody Wants This,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Shrinking,” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”
“The Studio” now holds the record for the most Emmy Awards won by a comedy series in one year, surpassing the previous record of 11 wins held by last year’s “The Bear”.
Seth Rogen joked that giving so many acceptance speeches was becoming awkward. He won all four of the awards he was nominated for on Sunday night.
The Apple TV+ comedy series satirizing the world of Hollywood quickly gained popularity with both critics and audiences when it premiered earlier this year. Created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg (known for films like “Superbad” and “Pineapple Express”), Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez, the series was directed throughout by Rogen and Goldberg.

Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, and Seth Rogen talk about how their show captures a tiny part of what life is like in Los Angeles – think office visits for IV drips, trendy spots like San Vicente Bungalows, city hikes, and a healthy diet of salads.
Seth Rogen leads a cast of hilarious actors playing clueless movie studio executives – Catherine O’Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Kathryn Hahn, and Bryan Cranston. The series also features fun cameos from real Hollywood stars like Dave Franco, Zoë Kravitz, Anthony Mackie, Ron Howard, and Martin Scorsese, all of whom received Emmy nominations for their appearances.
In his acceptance speech, Seth Rogen said he wanted to be truly sincere. He expressed his gratitude to viewers, and especially those who voted for their show. He admitted he was happily embarrassed to be standing on stage with his friends and colleagues, calling it a great honor to work alongside such amazing people.
Rogen playfully acknowledged the studio executives, referencing a running joke from his character who desperately wanted to thank them during an awards speech.
“The Studio” was the big winner at this month’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which recognize excellence in artistic and technical fields, as well as certain acting performances. The show received a total of nine awards, including wins for Bryan Cranston’s guest appearance, its production design, costumes, and cinematography.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg recently told The New York Times that the incredible 23 Emmy nominations they received this summer came as a surprise.
Rogen explained that the attention was new and surprisingly flattering, something he and his team weren’t accustomed to receiving.
