The spark for this idea was to depict his character development as a kind of villain origin story, mirroring how the “Star Wars” prequels portray Anakin Skywalker’s transformation into Darth Vader.

The main idea presented is that beneath the Darth Vader costume lies an individual with depth beyond what initially appears. This intrigue surpasses the allure of a man who merely associates with many women and seems charismatic. Instead, I yearn to discover the true essence of that person, making it the most compelling aspect of this episode.

In one scene, Barney’s transformation mirrors that of the Sith Lord, as he trades his long hair, goatee, and hippie wardrobe for a clean-shaven look and professional attire. This transition is filmed in a way reminiscent of Hayden Christensen’s Anakin (who played multiple roles in Star Wars) donning the Vader armor for the first time in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, which was released shortly before the episode was aired.
