The Split’s Nicola Walker confirmed for new “twisted” British series with “betrayal and revenge”
The Split star Nicola Walker has been confirmed for a brand-new British series for Disney+.
Actress playing Hannah Stern in the BBC’s legal drama will share screen time with Jemaine Clement from “Flight of the Conchords”, in a humorous production tentatively titled “Alice and Steve“, known for its unique blend of comedy and unexpected twists.
As a gamer, I’m excited about the storyline where my main characters, Steve and Alice, face a tough challenge. Their long-standing friendship gets tested when Steve starts dating Izzy, Alice’s daughter who’s 26 years old. This new relationship could disrupt not just their personal lives but also their families, futures, and everything in between, making it a gripping tale to follow.
What to Read Next
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d put it this way: “Alice and Steve’s rollercoaster tale, brimming with raw emotions, unexpected twists, and a dash of absurdity, has me questioning if they’ll ever find their way to each other. The end leaves me pondering, will their lives ever be the same again? Some questions are still up in the air.
In the six-episode series, Joel Fry takes on the role of Alice’s husband Daniel, while Tyrese Eaton-Dyce plays their son Dom, and Marcia Warren portrays Val, Alice’s mother.
Alongside Eilidh Fisher and Ebony Aboagye, it’s worth noting that Stath Lets Flats’ Tom Kingsley is directing, based on a script penned by Sophie Goodhart from Sex Education. In addition to her writing duties, she’s also acting as an executive producer for the project.
Walker expressed great excitement about entering the intriguing universe of friendship, motherhood, marriage, vengeance, and intense affection crafted by Sophie Goodhart, and added that working alongside Jemaine Clement makes this experience all the more delightful!
I find a lot in common with Steve; he’s refined, fashionable, and just an outstanding individual – that is, until he isn’t,” Clement noted. “I’m thrilled about collaborating with the delightful Nicola Walker and witnessing how Steve and Alice’s relationship spirals into utter turmoil.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my enthusiasm about diving deep into the tumultuous, captivating, and side-splitting lives of Alice and Steve. They’ve landed smack-dab in the middle of this contemporary comedy of blunders, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds! Petra Fried, Co-Managing Director at Clerkenwell Films, shared my sentiment, describing the lead characters as truly one-of-a-kind.
Prepare for an explosive blend of deceit and retribution, set within a vibrant landscape filled with complex and imperfect characters, masterfully crafted by the talented Sophie Goodhart, as stated by Disney+’s Head of Scripted, Lee Mason.
We’re excited to share this unique blend of humor and strangeness with Disney+ viewers. This captivating tale is skillfully portrayed by the renowned British actress Nicola Walker in a way you’ve never witnessed before, alongside the side-splitting comedy of New Zealand’s esteemed comic figure, Jemaine Clement.
Alice and Steve (working title) will be coming to Disney+, but doesn’t have a release window yet.
The first print magazine from Digital Spy, titled “British Comedy Legends,” is now available! You can purchase it at your local newsstands or online for only £3.99.
