As a dedicated fan of classic detective dramas who grew up watching the original ‘Bergerac’ series, I must say that seeing Damien Molony step into the iconic red 1947 Triumph Roadster is nothing short of exhilarating!
UKTV has unveiled fresh images featuring Damien Molony in the forthcoming revival of the 1980s detective series, “Bergerac.
In the latest series, The Split star assumes the part of detective Jim Bergerac, a role originally played by John Nettles from Midsomer Murders on the classic BBC show that aired from 1981 to 1991.
Enthusiasts are bound to rejoice as an old character makes a comeback in the remake, and fresh images reveal Molony comfortably positioned inside the detective’s striking 1947 Triumph Roadster.

Regarding the enduring impact of Bergerac, Molony remarked: “When discussing this character, there are typically two images that come up first: the island of Jersey, and his distinctive automobile.
I’ve just finished shooting, and it’s been an absolute blast playing the character Jim Bergerac. To add to the excitement, I got the opportunity to drive the famous Triumph Roadster as well.
It wouldn’t have been possible for us to reinvent this series without acknowledging its roots, and the vehicle serves as a link between the old and new. I’m eagerly looking forward to presenting it to our fans.

In the revamped version of “Bergerac”, you’ll find a stellar ensemble alongside the lead, including Zoë Wanamaker from “My Family” and Philip Glenister who was seen in “Life on Mars”. Both actors are part of the six-episode run.
Wanamaker is set to portray Charlie, Bergerac’s mother-in-law, who expresses worry that he prioritizes work over their daughter Kim during a difficult period for the family.
The audience will encounter a disheartened Bergerac, who resorts to alcohol following the recent passing of his spouse.

In the given synopsis, a woman belonging to an affluent family in Jersey gets killed. The protagonist, Jim, grapples with his internal issues and strives to regain his former strength as a tenacious detective, to solve this case.
In a situation where an old troublemaker from his past reappears, Bergerac must rely on his keen detective senses and previous accomplishments to untangle complex family relationships, all while keeping an eye on the watchful authorities, as he works to crack this case.
Instead of having a fresh storyline for every episode like the original, the revamped version of Bergerac will revolve around a single, character-driven murder mystery that unfolds across all six episodes.
Bergerac is a brand-new U&Original show and will air on U and U&Drama in 2025.
