The Split’s Abi Morgan addresses possible crossover in spin-off series
As a die-hard fan of Abi Morgan’s masterful storytelling, I’ve been eagerly waiting for any news about “The Split” and its spin-off show, “The Split Up.” The latest updates have left me both excited and puzzled. Having binge-watched the original series multiple times, I can’t help but wonder if we might see some familiar faces pop up in the new show. Morgan’s recent comments about a potential crossover have only fueled my anticipation.
I remember the heart-wrenching moments, the gripping courtroom scenes, and the complex family dynamics that made “The Split” such an unforgettable viewing experience. With the move to Manchester and a new family of legal experts taking center stage, I’m curious to see how the story will unfold in “The Split Up.”
While production on the series has faced some hiccups, it seems that things are finally moving forward. The prospect of a whole new group of writers working on the show is intriguing and adds to the sense of anticipation. I’m looking forward to diving into the lives of Kishan Law and seeing how they navigate their own professional and personal turmoil.
As for my prediction, I think it would be a brilliant move to have some of the original cast make guest appearances in “The Split Up.” It would not only satisfy fans like me who crave more of the Defoe family but also provide an interesting contrast between the two shows and their respective families.
Lastly, I can’t help but wonder if the decision to halt production on “The Split Up” was a result of too many lawyers arguing over legal technicalities in the script. After all, even lawyers have their quirks, right? Let’s hope that the creative team sorts out any remaining issues so we can finally see “The Split Up” come to life!
Writer Abi Morgan, known for ‘The Split’, has shared her thoughts on the prospect of a fusion between the upcoming spin-off series titled ‘The Split Off’.
This past Christmas, the original legal drama made its comeback on our screens with two fresh episodes named “The Split: Barcelona“, as the Defoe clan embarked on a journey to sunny Spain, attending a unique wedding.
In February, we learned that the world of “The Split” was growing, as the BBC had given the go-ahead for a fresh series named “The Split Apart“. This new installment focuses on a different family of legal professionals, the Kishans.
During a private conversation with Digital Spy, Morgan, the creator and author, hinted at the possibility that some members from The Split’s stellar cast might appear in the upcoming spin-off series.
She said, “Indeed, it seems we’re discussing the same topic. I believe this upcoming show will be able to thrive independently, but it’s delightful to have established an audience. We’re eagerly anticipating that our current audience might transition to the revamped version of the show. Time will tell.
According to reports from September, the filming of “The Split Up” has been put on an open-ended hold. A source revealed to Deadline that this move was made for “editorial purposes.
In contrast to “The Split,” Morgan is not penning the upcoming series this time around, as playwright and screenwriter Ursula Rani Sarma has stepped up to take charge of the project.
Nonetheless, during our conversation with Morgan, who maintains some connection to the upcoming show, she affirmed that the project is indeed progressing.
She shared that our project is currently under progress, and we’re actively building it. We’re particularly thrilled about the team helmed by Ursula, and we’re eagerly anticipating a potential launch in the coming year as we spoke to Digital Spy.
It’s been an absolutely wonderful experience to transform this into a fresh family, a brand-new setting filled with a whole new community of authors.
Instead, the separation will occur in Manchester at an esteemed British-Asian family law firm known as Kishan Law.
According to the description, Kishan Law is renowned as the preferred choice for Manchester’s high-class individuals due to their exceptional skills, honesty, and confidentiality. However, the stability and reputation of Kishan Law is at risk when a long-hidden family secret resurfaces, causing chaos in both their professional and personal spheres.
The Split: Barcelona and all three seasons of The Split are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
