The Split star’s “deliciously dark” Scandi-inspired UK drama confirms return date – and it’s so soon

The upcoming second season of “The Couple Next Door,” Channel 4’s gripping psychological thriller, has officially announced its release date, with the wait not much longer.

On Monday, 14th July, you’ll be able to stream the fresh new series with its brand-new main cast, either online or catch it live on Channel 4 at the same time.

In its comeback, “The Couple Next Door” will receive a fresh narrative, and Annabel Scholey (“The Split“) is set to spearhead the new principal cast. She’ll be accompanied by Sam Palladio (“Nashville”), Aggy K Adams (“The Witcher”), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (“Never Have I Ever”). Additionally, Hugh Dennis (“Outnumbered”) will reprise his role as “cul-de-sac outcast” Alan for this new phase of the intriguing and dark psychological drama, as announced by Channel 4.

The initial season debuted in the year 2023, featuring Eleanor Tomlinson from ‘Poldark’, Sam Heughan from ‘Outlander’, Alfred Enoch known for ‘How to Get Away with Murder’, and Jessica De Gouw (famous for ‘The Secrets She Keeps’). These four characters played two sets of couples whose lives became intertwined, leading to some surprising and ominous developments.

In the upcoming season, Scholey takes on the role of Charlotte Roberts, a heart surgeon. Her husband, Jacob (portrayed by Palladio), is an anaesthetist. As per the storyline, their tranquil life is disrupted when Mia, a new and enigmatic colleague at the hospital, moves into the house neighboring them. To heighten the suspense, Mia’s ex-lover Leo (Ramamurthy) unexpectedly resurfaces.

The TV series titled “The Couple Next Door” was penned by David Allison, who is also known for writing “Marcella,” and directed by Dries Vos, recognized for his work in “Suspect” and “Professor T.” It has been disclosed that this series bears a loose adaptation from the Scandinavian drama “Dopamin,” while its initial version was based on the Dutch format “The Neighbors.
