The latest British drama airing on Channel 4, titled “Hunting Alice Bell,” has expanded its ensemble by incorporating actors Rudi Dharmalingam and Alexandra Roach into the cast.
The forthcoming series, crafted by David Baddiel and Peter Bradshaw, is reportedly centered around the topic of misunderstandings, delving into how social media amplifies anger, gossip, and false information in contemporary society, as stated by Deadline.
The writers Polly Buckle and Kate Verghese have joined the team, and filming for the series reportedly started in Ireland this week. Dharmalingam and Roach, recognized for their work in shows like “The Split” and “Nightsleeper,” are the initial actors to be signed for this new project.
What to Read Next
Beyond his portrayal of James Cutler in the BBC’s legal drama “The Split”, Dharmalingam has also appeared in various roles, including “The Lazarus Project”, “Great Expectations”, and “Missing You”. The latter was adapted from a novel by Harlan Coben.
Simultaneously, Roach is slated to appear in a project alongside Coben. The forthcoming Prime Video thriller series, titled “Lazarus,” will also feature Bill Nighy and Sam Claflin.
According to the official synopsis, Lazarus accompanies a man (Claflin) as he goes back home following his father’s (Nighy) passing. He then encounters peculiar and inexplicable occurrences.
The narrative unfolds as the character finds himself ensnared in a web of unsolved homicides from the past, all while seeking answers about his father’s demise and sister’s murder that occurred a quarter century ago. This is the premise for the series, jointly crafted by Coben and Danny Brocklehurst.
In a recent report, it’s been mentioned that Roach, known for roles in shows like “The Light in the Hall” and “Killing Eve,” will be taking on a new character who is the sister of the main figure. This role reportedly involves the character being compelled to uncover truths about her own past.
Instead of following his usual pattern of adapting a novel, Lazarus represents an entirely new creation by the author. He expressed, “I contemplated writing this as a novel, but I saw it unfolding as a TV series instead. It has a touch of the supernatural and is quite visual.
Hunting Alice Bell and Lazarus have no release dates.
