Like many Netflix subscribers, I watched Alex Honnold’s incredible climb of the nearly 1,700-foot Taipei 101 tower last Saturday night as part of the Skyscraper Live event. My wife and kids were on the edge of our seats with me as Honnold, known from the documentary Free Solo, made his way to the top. The commentators providing live updates from the ground added to the excitement.
I watched the recent Netflix climbing event and then looked at what people were saying online. Almost everyone agreed Alex Honnold’s climb was incredible, but a lot of viewers criticized the commentary from Elle Duncan, Seth Rollins, and Emily Harrington. Personally, I thought Seth Rollins, formerly of WWE, did a great job with the commentary.

What People Are Saying About The Skyscraper Commentary
After the event, I was surprised to see almost all the comments on X were negative. People like jwelbes questioned why Netflix chose energetic commentators instead of the more traditional, subdued style used in golf broadcasts. Others, like llabamme, were more blunt with their criticism, and many, such as NickolasGarrett, simply felt the commentary wasn’t needed. It was a constant stream of complaints.
Did anyone else actually like the commentary? I thought it was mostly good. Sometimes it was hard to hear Alex Honnold because of all the talking, and occasionally there were too many voices at once. But overall, it helped make the 91-minute climb more interesting and gave us some helpful background information.

Personally, I Think Seth Rollins’ Reactions Added A Lot To The Drama And Excitment
I really enjoyed seeing Seth Rollins at the commentary desk. As a big wrestling fan, I’m always happy to watch him, especially now that he’s injured and not actively wrestling. He definitely made the show more dramatic and exciting.
Honestly, I think Seth Rollins’ limited climbing knowledge actually made his commentary really entertaining. He was clearly thrilled watching Alex Honnold tackle that 1,667-foot tower – it felt like watching a fan react at home. While some people wanted a more subdued or silent commentary, Rollins brought a chaotic energy to the broadcast, and whether that was good or bad, it was definitely noticeable.
I’m not sure when Seth Rollins will return to wrestling, but I really believe his injury is legitimate. I’m eager to see him back in the ring, but I’m also thoroughly enjoying everything else he’s been doing lately! I want to see more of him talking about the NFL, more funny videos, and even a variety show starring him.
