The Sims 4’s Create-A-Date in Lovestruck expansion adds more realism
As a seasoned Sims player with countless hours spent building and nurturing virtual relationships, I can’t help but be thrilled about The Sims 4: Lovestruck expansion! This game update isn’t just another DLC; it brings significant improvements that elevate the overall experience, particularly for those of us who enjoy creating complex romantic storylines.
In simpler terms, the new expansion for “The Sims 4,” named “Lovestruck,” doesn’t drastically change the gameplay but enhances it significantly, particularly for those who enjoy romance in the game. A notable improvement is the upgraded dating system, which introduces more depth to relationships. To arrange dates in “Lovestruck,” players can use the Create-A-Date menu and select from various types of dates such as a first date or a romantic one, among others.
No matter what decisions you make, the structure of the date remains consistent: Start by deciding who will join you (feel free to bring extra people for a double or group date). Next, select from an extensive range of options for what you’ll do together – possibilities include dancing, drinks, stargazing, video games, and much more. Lastly, determine the location for your date activities. The chosen activities function as objectives for the date, similar to how dating used to work, providing a reward upon completion while also strengthening the relationship you are cultivating.
In the upcoming expansion, sims who aren’t involved in a date will generally keep to themselves, allowing for more uninterrupted romantic moments. A Maxis developer revealed this during a press event, mentioning that dates will be disrupted by strangers significantly less frequently than before. This was previously a major annoyance for me as I watched my sims go out on dates or even stay at home. Uninvited guests would constantly ring the doorbell or initiate conversations with the couple, ruining the intended romantic atmosphere.
In simpler terms, inviting guests on a date in “The Sims 4” with the “Lovestruck” expansion makes the game more authentic. The sims who are merely socializing at the bar will engage less. This is because the developers at Maxis have focused on minor enhancements that collectively make romantic relationships more intricate. As a developer mentioned during the presentation, achieving marriage won’t be as easy as exchanging friendly greetings anymore.
