The Sims 4 vs inZOI: What are the major differences?
In the realm of video games, The Sims 4 and inZOI are currently locking horns as formidable competitors. Gamers should brace themselves for a host of thrilling elements coming up in the next installment of life simulation gaming.
InZOI, a new game developed by inZOI Studio and published by Krafton, is being hailed as a unique challenge for The Sims 4, a title that hasn’t encountered such competition before. Some speculate that this could potentially dethrone The Sims 4. Scheduled for release on March 28, the game stands apart from The Sims 4 in certain significant ways.
“Players over profits”
In contrast to The Sims, where extra content often requires payment, inZOI focuses on “putting players first,” as stated by Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim, the game’s director. This means that all downloadable content and general updates will be provided free of charge during the early access phase, so when you buy the game, you can expect a complimentary gaming experience.
More realistic and better graphic quality
As a devoted fan, I must admit that while The Sims 4 mods have certainly enhanced the game’s realism, they don’t quite compare to the stunning models of inZOI. This disparity can be explained by the fact that The Sims is over a decade old, and the technology used for its development has seen significant advancements since then, allowing for more lifelike models like those found in inZOI.
If you’re looking for a game where you can modify characters that could be you, your loved ones, or even famous personalities, this might just be the ideal pick for you. Although the character designs lean towards realism, they might seem too ‘artificially generated’ to some gamers, particularly those who prefer a unique look in their gaming adventures. You’ll find numerous customization options for these characters, ranging from facial features and makeup to hairstyles, nails, and many other aspects.
The clarity of the visuals has noticeably enhanced, offering a far more detailed view of the surroundings, objects, and everything else in the vicinity. It even makes walking appear more authentic.
You can drive by yourself!
As a gamer, I’ve found that inZOI has revolutionized my gaming experience when it comes to vehicles. Instead of just controlling them, I can genuinely drive them, roll up the windows, flick on the headlights, and even step out whenever I please. The interaction between me and these cars feels incredibly immersive. If you’re like me, someone who wants to sharpen their parking skills before that dreaded driving test, inZOI offers a perfect practice ground.
There’s also an atmosphere on the road where vehicles come to a halt at traffic signals, pause at crosswalks, and so forth, providing a truly authentic experience.
More life stages and interactions
If you value the lifecycle development of your Zois characters, then InZOI’s unique feature – the addition of a ‘middle-aged’ life stage – could appeal to you. Distinct from The Sims 4, InZOI has planned nine life stages for its full release, however, only six will be accessible during the Early Access launch on March 28. The remaining stages are expected to roll out in either the May, October, or December updates.

In comparison to The Sims, Zois offers a more authentic character interaction experience, free from the engine constraints that were present in The Sims. Characters within Zois can behave aggressively, engage with objects in a more organic way, and even perform independent activities like practicing yoga without explicit instructions. Remarkably, they can immerse themselves in experiences like riding a rollercoaster in first person, playing arcade games, basketball, and many other enjoyable activities. The variety of interactions available in Zois is truly astonishing.
AI-generated customization
The game offers Artificial Intelligence (AI) functionalities that significantly enhance your gaming journey. With this feature, you can snap a photo of yourself, and your unique Zoi character will be generated using your likeness. Moreover, the personalization possibilities for your in-game home are unparalleled. You simply need to instruct the AI to incorporate certain textures onto items such as sofas, and it will comply with your wishes.
The game has been designed to bypass copyright concerns, enabling you to request that the AI incorporate numerous design elements without worry. KRAFTON guarantees that all designs are free for use and they have obtained permission from the artists. Unlike The Sims, which may require additional mods or purchases for similar customization options, inZOI offers built-in and readily available customization features as promised by its developers.
Open world and cities that you can customize
As a dedicated Sims enthusiast, I’ve always yearned for a more immersive city life experience in The Sims series. Although The Sims 3 attempted to tackle the issues of stability and loneliness, it fell short. Enter inZOI, a game that promises to redefine urban exploration by offering an expansive open world for customization.
Unlike The Sims, where I had to meticulously guide my Sims to socialize, inZOI presents a unique experience. Here, you can freely roam a sprawling cityscape, whether on foot or by vehicle, without encountering any loading screens or distinct environments. Even the seemingly mundane elements like billboards and trees can be personalized to your liking. But that’s not all! The weather conditions and time of day are also customizable, adding another layer of realism.
In essence, inZOI seems to offer a more organic and immersive city life experience compared to The Sims, allowing me to truly shape the world according to my desires.
With all the new experiences you’ll find, you might end up being bewildered within the game! Also, keep in mind that KRAFTON is planning to roll out additional features, so brace yourself for the upcoming update scheduled for May.
