The Simpsons star retires from show after 35 years

As a long-time Simpsons enthusiast with a lifetime of memories tied to this iconic show, I must say that Pamela Hayden’s decision to retire from her roles is bittersweet. Her portrayal of Milhouse, Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, and the rest of her colorful characters has been a staple in my TV viewing experience for decades. It’s like losing an old friend who’s moving away, but I understand that new opportunities often call.

A fresh actor is being brought on board by The Simpsons production team, as original voice actress Pamela Hayden has decided to step down and retire from the popular animated series, voicing the character Milhouse in the future.

For the past three and a half decades, Hayden has been lending her vocal talents to Bart’s geeky best friend, as well as a variety of other characters. Among these are the school bully Jimbo Jones, Ned Flanders’ son Rod, Chief Wiggum’s wife and Ralph Wiggum’s mother Sarah, Lisa Simpson’s friend Janey Powell, and Malibu Stacy from the 1994 episode ‘Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy’.

On Sunday, November 24th in the U.S., it’s been announced that Hayden will be stepping down from her current role to explore new ventures.

I’ve felt incredibly privileged and delighted to contribute my talents to a series that’s been both laugh-out-loud funny and trailblazing. Lending my voice to Milhouse, Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Janey, Malibu Stacy, and numerous other characters has been an unforgettable experience I won’t soon forget!

Additionally, Hayden expressed his thoughts on a heartfelt video tribute posted by The Simpsons’ official Instagram account. In the post, he stated: “After careful consideration, I have chosen to step down from The Simpsons in order to explore new creative avenues. I am grateful for all the love and encouragement you’ve shown me!

Currently, there’s an exciting development with “The Simpsons” series as they’ve finally unraveled a longstanding enigma about Homer’s employment at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.

For over three decades, fans have pondered the mystery of why Homer remains employed, given his unique blend of lethargy and inattention. However, a recent episode that aired last October finally shed light on this question for viewers.

In an episode of season 36, entitled ‘Faulty Warmth’, we delved into Grandpa Abe’s history as a detective, uncovering that he was once hired to dig up some secrets about Mr. Burns way back in 1982.

In the scenario where the power plant’s proprietor murdered his investigative partner Billy due to too much knowledge, Abe was presented with a predicament. He could either expose Burns to the law enforcement or accept the offer, ensuring that his son Homer would always have a job, regardless of circumstances. As we are well aware, this tale did not end well for Abe’s moral compass.

The Simpsons airs Sunday nights on FOX in the US. The show currently streams on Disney+ in the UK.
