The Simpsons retires iconic character “forever” after almost 30 years

I was a little bummed to hear that Duffman is officially gone from The Simpsons! He’s been around for almost thirty years, and even though he wasn’t a main character, he always brightened up an episode. I’ll miss his “Oh yeah!” and how he always talked about himself in the third person – it was such a fun running gag.

Okay, so in the newest episode, ‘Separance’ – it’s a pretty funny take on the show Severance – they revealed that the actor who played Duffman, Barry, has officially retired the character. Now he’s working at the same place Homer just got a job at, this company called EOD (Enthusiasm on Demand). It’s a weird twist, but I’m kinda curious to see where they go with this!

Barry showed up at the Simpsons’ house and explained that the Duff Corporation had completely stopped using their old cartoon mascot. He said traditional advertising methods just don’t work anymore – things like company spokespeople, printed ads, and TV commercials. He pointed out that today’s kids don’t even remember the catchy jingles from those ads.

By the episode’s conclusion, he had broken free from EOD’s influence, but he chose to return to a normal life instead of becoming Duffman again.

Recently, The Simpsons retired a beloved character, Alice Glick. The church organist passed away during Reverend Lovejoy’s sermon in a recent episode.

While Alice the organist’s music will live on, Tim Long, the show’s executive producer, confirmed to People that she has sadly passed away.

It was recently confirmed that The Simpsons is getting a sequel, two decades after the first movie was released.

Viewers realized the show seemed to foreshadow the long wait for a sequel in a 2007 episode. In that episode, Bart is shown writing on the chalkboard, ‘I will not wait 20 years to make another movie.’

I saw someone online wondering if the creators of The Simpsons intentionally held off on making a second movie just to bring back a joke from their first one after the original film. It’s a pretty funny theory! Another person chimed in saying they always suspected the team was planning something like this all along.

In the US, you can watch The Simpsons on FOX every Sunday. If you’re in the UK, the show is currently available to stream on Disney+. Plus, a sequel to The Simpsons Movie is planned to come out on July 23, 2027.

The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s a special tribute to Dolly Parton! You can find “Dolly at 80” in shops or order it online for only £8.99.
