The Simpsons gets channel swap in the UK with new broadcast home

As a die-hard fan of The Simpsons for what feels like an eternity (or at least since the 90s), I can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia, excitement, and a dash of melancholy with this latest news.

The Simpsons has found a new broadcast home in the UK.

In the new agreement between Channel 4 and Disney Entertainment, starting from January 2025, the popular long-standing animated series will shift from its usual primetime position on Channel 4 to E4, commencing with season 32.

First, the new seasons of “The Simpsons” will first become available on Disney+. Later, these same episodes will also be aired on E4. This includes Season 36, which is set to debut in the spring of 2025.

After airing initially on E4, the latest seasons can be watched as a collection on Channel 4’s streaming service for a temporary period following their television premiere.

The action aims to connect with a new generation of television viewers by catering to those who enjoy both traditional channels like E4 and modern streaming platforms.

Polly Scates, Head of Acquisitions at Channel 4, expressed her joy about the ongoing partnership between “The Simpsons” and Channel 4, stating that we’re excited to keep sharing this cherished and distinctive series with our viewers.

Collaboration has become increasingly crucial in our rapidly changing market, and I’ve enjoyed partnering with Disney Entertainment. As a result, fans in the UK will now have the opportunity to catch up with the latest seasons of their favorite show on E4 and C4 Streaming, following its initial airing on Disney+.

Speaking of exciting updates, I can’t help but share some personal excitement about a significant change in the world of “The Simpsons.” The remarkable voice actress behind many beloved characters, Pamela Hayden, has decided to bid farewell to the show after an incredible 35-year run. Her swan song was the last episode that aired in the US just last month. It’s bittersweet news for us dedicated fans, but we’ll always cherish her memorable contributions to Springfield!

Hayden provided the voice for various characters on the show, including Bart’s geeky sidekick Milhouse, antagonist Jimbo Jones, Rod from Ned Flanders’ family, Sarah, wife of Chief Wiggum and mother of Ralph Wiggum, Lisa’s friend Janey Powell, as well as Malibu Stacy.

In simpler terms, Hayden expressed that saying goodbye to The Simpsons won’t be an easy task for her, as she prepares to retire from the show.

It has been a pleasure and delight to contribute to this innovative, humorous, and trailblazing series. I’ve had the privilege of bringing characters like Milhouse, Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Janey, Malibu Stacy, and several others to life.
