Ranking the Characters based on gameplay

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins blends open-world exploration similar to Genshin Impact with a fast-paced combat system inspired by Arknights: Endfield. Players build a team of four characters, each with unique elemental powers and roles. Combat revolves around a classic elemental advantage system – similar to rock, paper, scissors – utilizing the game’s eight different elements.

Every character can use three different weapons, allowing them to fill various roles on a team. For instance, King can be built as either a healer or a damage dealer, depending on the weapon you choose. Characters and weapons both come in different rarities, with 5-star items being the most powerful, followed by 4-star and 3-star.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins Character Tier List

This tier list is for characters available on the Global server as of launch. I’ll be ranking them in four categories – S, A, B, and D – considering both their damage-dealing ability (DPS) and support capabilities.

Strong (S) Meliodas, King Mannie, Diane
Good (A) Tristan, Jericho, Elaine Tioreh, Guila
Average (B) Drake, Slater, Howzer, Hendrickson, Bug
Bad (D) Dreyfus, Dredrin Griamore, Gilthunder

Best S-tier Units in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins Overview

Melodias in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins

Meliodas was the very first character available through the gacha system, making him a highly sought-after addition to any team. He excels at dealing damage quickly and has excellent movement abilities thanks to his passive skill. Plus, his powerful area-of-effect attacks are perfect for quickly defeating groups of enemies.

Melodias can deal a lot of damage just from his abilities, meaning you don’t need top-tier weapons to make him effective – even SR quality weapons work well. He has three different weapon skillsets: Longsword, Dual Sword, and Axe. If you’re building him as a main damage dealer, I recommend either Longsword or Axe. Dual Sword is best suited for a Melodias who supports the team as a secondary damage dealer.

King in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins

King is a strong alternative to Melodias, fitting well as either a main damage dealer or a secondary one in the current game. He doesn’t move as quickly as Melodias, but compensates with powerful attacks and helpful support abilities. While not quite as good as Mannie for support, King launched as the second-best damage dealer overall.

If you’re playing for free, you can give him any SR weapon that increases damage, and he’ll perform well. His Bloom ability further boosts his damage output. He’s designed as a magic user, so the best weapons for him are Grimoires, Staves, and Wands. He’s also capable of healing allies and providing defensive buffs using his skills.

Mannie in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins

Right now, Mannie is considered the strongest Support character in the game. Her Staff build is incredibly powerful, and it’s hard to disagree with that assessment. She works exceptionally well alongside Meliodas. Pairing her with King allows you to build him as your primary damage dealer while she provides strong secondary damage and support.

You’ll have Mannie and Jericho as your Ice units. The other two team slots are best filled with versatile support characters like King and Elaine, who can boost Mannie’s damage when she’s at her strongest. Mannie can be played as a support character using a staff, or you can maximize her damage output by equipping her with dual swords or a longsword.

Diane in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins

Diane is currently one of the strongest and most useful characters in Seven Deadly Sins Origin, excelling as a tank. With her Gauntlets, she’s incredibly durable and hard to defeat. She can also deal significant damage as a damage dealer using her Axe, and offers helpful support abilities when equipped with her Nunchucks. Her versatility makes her a valuable addition to any team.

Elaine primarily uses earth-based attacks and doesn’t deal other types of damage. Because she’s very durable, she excels in close combat. If you want her to be your main damage dealer, Elaine and King can provide excellent team support. She also has many different SR weapons that work well with her, so experiment to find what you like best.

Final Thoughts

Right now, the most popular strategies focus on the game’s newest characters. These characters are built to be powerful and deal a lot of damage, but they often need specific, high-level support characters to perform at their best. This means players are building more focused teams, and using a character without the right support will greatly limit how well they play.
