The season 5 premiere of The Boys is named after the show's most NSFW superhero

As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of viewing the weird and wonderful under my belt, I must say that the news about the final season of “The Boys” has me both excited and nostalgic. Like an old man reminiscing about his first kiss, I remember the moment when this raunchy, profane, yet undeniably entertaining show burst onto our screens like a super-powered explosion.

There remains only one more season of “The Boys” on Amazon, a series that delightfully uses profanity, frequently displays gross scenes, yet never fails to entertain. Although new episodes are still some time away, showrunner Eric Kripke is keeping fans excited by unveiling the title of the season 5 premiere. Take a look: [title of season 5 premiere]

According to Games Radar, the title for the season 5 premiere, “Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite,” is borrowed from issue #14 of the comic book series, The Boys. This title is a nod to a superhero character named Love Sausage. Throughout the show, we’ve encountered Love Sausage on several occasions; he is known for his extremely long and potentially hazardous…member.

As a passionate comic book enthusiast, I can’t help but reminisce about Love Sausage, a character with an intriguing past. In the realm of comics, he goes by the name Vasilii Vorishikin, a Russian fellow who once spearheaded The Glorious Five-Year Plan, a superhero team. However, in the TV show ‘The Boys’, his character has largely remained underexplored; he’s mostly been used to showcase his unique abilities and then quickly exit the scene, only to reappear when the creators decide it’s time to stir up some discomfort again. Yet, with an episode named after him, there’s a glimmer of hope that we might delve deeper into his story.

The Boys cast reassembles for fifth and final season

Currently, the entire ensemble of “The Boys” is coming together as production on season 5 commences. Not long ago, lead actor Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk) shared an exciting photo featuring many cast and crew members at a group dinner. His caption read, “And just like that….. we’re back!” he penned.

For quite some time now, “The Boys” has been a beloved series, and though I’ll undoubtedly feel sad when it eventually ends (anticipated to be around 2026), I’m confident that Eric Kripke and the team will deliver a final season worthy of remembrance. In the interim, the second season of “The Boys” spinoff titled “Gen V” is scheduled for release on Amazon Prime Video in 2025.
