The ‘screaming ghost’ photo still haunts police. I consider it proof of the afterlife… and what people see in their final moments

In the tragic year of 1984, when John Boulware was only 16, his life was prematurely taken away in a gruesome car accident.

On the evening of two days post-Christmas, a high school student from St. Paul, Minnesota was en route to a Prince concert with three companions. Unfortunately, their vehicle veered off course and collided with a tree around 7:45 pm, roughly estimated to be traveling at about 40 miles per hour.

In this unfortunate incident, the individual, who wasn’t buckled up, lost his life due to severe bleeding resulting from a fractured neck. Remarkably, his three companions managed to survive.

Four decades after a teenager’s demise in a car accident, a puzzling photograph captured immediately afterward has once more brought Boulware’s death to public attention. This intriguing image has been so compelling that it has persuaded doubters that there might be an afterlife.

The puzzle began to unravel when Officer Brian Coyle scrutinized pictures he had snapped of the accident scene on that stormy Thursday evening.

As Boulware’s body was slumped in the front passenger seat, a photograph seemed to depict a detached head hovering above the wreckage, apparently gazing at the deceased teenager below.

The face strongly reminds one of Boulware, sporting a head full of curls and sideburns, with its mouth wide open in a heart-wrenching shout.

In the shot, there seemed to be beams of light and a shape reminiscent of a dog’s silhouette, neither of which Coyle could explain their origin.

Some argue that the picture is simply a product of pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon where people perceive faces or meaningful objects in seemingly random patterns. On the other hand, some, including a globally recognized psychic, assert that this image serves as indisputable proof that a soul is departing from its physical form.

Matt Fraser, renowned as America’s top psychic medium from When Heaven Calls: Life Lessons and the reality series Meet The Frasers, shared an exclusive statement with the Daily Mail, stating, “Over the years, I’ve encountered numerous images depicting spiritual phenomena. However, this one stands out as exceptionally profound.

In the story titled “The Ghost That Screamed,” what you see portrayed is an extraordinary instant, brimming with power, that captures a character suspended between the world of the living and the realm of the dead.

The image was captured swiftly following a heartrending mishap, and the first thing that catches your eye is an ethereal visage, seemingly a man in distress, emerging from the debris. To me, it symbolizes a spirit on its journey.

Fraser says ‘the soul is pure energy,’ and claims that it leaves the body at the moment of death.

‘What gives this picture such an eerie feeling is the man’s face – it seems like he’s shouting in shock. Often, when someone dies tragically, their spirit may not immediately comprehend that it’s no longer alive.’

‘There’s often confusion, shock or even a replaying of their final moments.’

Fraser thinks that the image perfectly encapsulates a time when Boulware’s spirit seemed to be hovering between life and death, unaware that he had actually passed away.

He called the visible excess energy ‘interesting’, ‘thick’ and ‘tangible’.

Reddit users have suggested that the spirit of a deceased dog may be present in another photo, viewing it as the ghost of a late pet assisting Boulware in crossing over to the afterlife. This theory is supported by Fraser.

The podcast host of ‘The Undeniable Proof’ mentioned that occasionally, souls may linger for a short while, attempting to reconnect with their body or make sense of recent events. However, it is only when the body completely ceases functioning that the soul moves on towards the afterlife. At this point, other entities like spirit guides, guardian angels, departed loved ones, and pets may become visible.

He asserts that a guardian angel always arrives before anyone else following an unexpected demise, and he believes the frequently mentioned tunnel of light brings tranquility to the deceased.

According to him, upon crossing over, numerous spirits often express the sensation as if it were a dream. They seem to recall no suffering; instead, they recognize only safety. At this point, spiritual guides step in to clarify the events and delicately guide them through the transition into their upcoming existence in the afterlife.

Additionally, upon scrutinizing the photograph, he noticed more ethereal shapes and figures in the vicinity. He hypothesized that they might be members of his spiritual entourage – spirits here to assist him on his journey back.

In my personal experience, it’s quite frequent for someone in their last moments to be visited by beloved family members and spiritual companions. These visitors don’t just offer comfort; they also assist in smoothing the transition and remind the departing soul of its connections, reassuring it that it is never alone on this journey.

‘This image vividly illustrates a transitional instant, and although it may seem unsettling, it corroborates all I’ve experienced in my medium role. It underscores the existence of souls. It demonstrates that energy persists beyond death. And it serves as a reminder of how fragile the boundary is between our world and the afterlife.’

Angie Banicki, a well-known tarot card reader, reinforces her interpretation, stating that Boulware was taken aback by his unexpected demise.

She stated, “From what my cards indicate, he was a youthful and enthusiastic individual, struggling to grasp his circumstances. His expression seemed more bewildered than angry. The dog, I believe, embodied his spirit as it moved forward. There was no sign of anger on his face; instead, it appeared that he was being whisked away abruptly, searching for understanding.

Social media detectives found the picture unsettling and commented, “It seems he was deeply affected by the incident.

‘I mean, you can CLEARLY see the boy no doubt’, they wrote.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve been scrutinizing that intriguing ‘snap’ everyone has been talking about. Some have suggested it’s nothing more than the result of ‘long exposure’, claiming that the streaks and the supposed ‘dog’ are merely artifacts produced by this technique. They argue that the two streak lines are simply the visible panel lines on the vehicle side, and if you trace their angle back to the starting point, the ‘dog’ is just an exposure of the visible seat at the same angle.

However, many said they ‘Can’t explain the face.’

However, some people pondered if those streaks of light might not have been merely an effect caused by ‘rain and inferior camera technology back then.

‘It’s all double exposure of film, and long exposure with shaky hands.’

According to Officer Coyle in the 2016 “The Ghost That Screamed” episode of Casefile Unknown by Barry Conrad, the incomprehensible photo continues to leave a lasting impression on him.

He mentioned that images from the Saint Paul Police Department had been processed, and I didn’t give it much thought until a few days later when an officer who worked in their photo lab contacted me. He suggested I visit him as there was something he wanted to share with me.

He was ‘fairly surprised’ by what he saw.

In the photographs I took, there appeared to be certain images that undeniably weren’t present during the time of capture. I found myself utterly puzzled as to their origin, unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for their presence.

According to Coyle’s interpretation, the apparition seemed to be depicting the events of Boulware’s accident as he had been positioned in the car. Specifically, when the accident occurred, Boulware was found with his back against the passenger door, facing where my camera would later be located, looking down towards his lap.

I can’t seem to figure it out myself, and neither have the experts been able to provide an answer.
