Fortunately, women like Trinny Woodall, Jane Fonda, Sharon Stone, and Linda Evangelista are starting to change the narrative.

Today, more women are choosing happiness on their own terms without the need for romance or rings.

Despite ongoing societal pressure about marriage and having children, many single women today are focused on living fulfilling lives and aren’t concerned with traditional expectations.

More and more women over 50 are happily choosing to be single and are actively enjoying this chapter of their lives.

The Daily Mail takes a closer look at the mature celebs who choose to stay single.

Trinny Woodall 

Trinny Woodall has long been open about how finding a man is not a priority. 

At 61, she’s enjoying single life and feels fantastic. She wants all women to remember that they can still feel confident and attractive in their fifties and sixties.

Trinny London’s founder was previously married to drummer Johnny Elichaoff, and they have a daughter together named Lyla.

Oh my god, after all her amazing work, she started dating Charles Saatchi! I was SO excited for her, but sadly, they split up in 2023. It was heartbreaking, honestly. I still ship them, even though it’s over. I just want her to be happy!

The makeup and skincare mogul has now discovered the ‘joy of not being in a relationship.’

In an interview with Hello! magazine, Trinny Woodall shared that she feels complete on her own, embracing her single life.

She wondered if she’d rather go to the theater with people she already knew – and their friends – instead of finding dates through an app. And she decided that, yes, she would prefer that.

She understands how strong female friendships can be, and acknowledges she enjoys spending time with people of all genders.

The celebrity admitted she sometimes goes on dates, but prefers spending time with her daughter and people she finds interesting.

In a recent interview with Women’s Health UK, she shared that the key to a good life is simply feeling happy and starting your day surrounded by people you genuinely enjoy – not wasting time with those who don’t bring you joy.

‘If, along the way, I meet someone, great, but my priority isn’t, “I have to date”.’

She explained that when friends ask if she’s dating anyone, she usually responds with a blunt, “No, and honestly, I don’t care.”

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross is the internet’s favourite rich, single aunty.

Now 53 years old, she has never been married and doesn’t have children, a topic she’s often talked about over the years.

In 2020, the American actress shared with PORTER magazine that she was happily enjoying being single.

Growing up, society always made me focus on having a wedding, but I wish I’d spent more time thinking about what I actually wanted out of life.

We often don’t discuss the many different paths people can take to find happiness, love, and build a family.

‘It creates so much shame and judgement.’ 

In 2023, she spoke more about her decision not to have children, explaining that going through perimenopause has made her rethink what it means to be a woman.

Tracee Ellis Ross, daughter of Diana Ross, talked about how her body has changed while appearing on the ‘We Can Do Hard Things’ podcast. She co-hosts the podcast with her wife, Abby Wambach, a former soccer player, and her sister, Amanda Doyle.

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore recently shared that she’s happily enjoying being single after celebrating her 50th birthday in February.

She used to actively seek out romance, thrilling experiences, and a generally exciting life. But she eventually came to understand that her strongest and most fulfilling relationship was the one she had with herself.

In her US Weekly column, the actress explained that she began prioritizing her own needs and wants, something she hadn’t done previously.

I started treating myself to solo outings. I’d cook elaborate meals, setting the mood with candles and music, as if I were entertaining guests.

Jane Fonda

The celebrated actress has had several highly publicized relationships and marriages with people in the entertainment and political industries, but she hasn’t yet found lasting love.

Okay, so Jane basically told SiriusXM back in 2018 that she’s totally done with dating! She said her current and future loves are her girlfriends, and that she’s ‘closed up shop’ – like, she’s officially out of the game! It’s so amazing, she’s had a great time but she’s happy where she is and doesn’t need anyone else. I’m obsessed with how sure of herself she is!

Jane, who is 87 years old, was in a relationship with her music producer boyfriend, Richard, for eight years. They ended their relationship in January 2017, reportedly because they were considering a non-traditional marriage.

The actress was previously married to CNN founder Ted Turner for 10 years, until 2001.

She married politician Tom Hayden in 1973, shortly after divorcing film director Roger Vadim – he’d given her the lead role in the science fiction movie Barbarella.

Jane Fonda has three children: Vanessa Vadim, from her first marriage; Troy Garity, with her second husband; and Mary Luana Williams, whom she informally adopted.

The actress, known for her attractiveness, stated she doesn’t want to be in a romantic relationship involving sex anytime this year.

She told Harper’s Bazaar she’s no longer interested in romantic or sexual relationships, saying she simply doesn’t have the desire for them anymore.

Linda Evangelista

Linda Evangelista has revealed that she is ‘not interested’ in dating again.

The former supermodel, 60, has been a fixture in popular culture since the 1990s.

She’s been in several well-known relationships, including a difficult marriage to French model Gérard Marie, an engagement to actor Kyle MacLachlan from Twin Peaks, and a relationship with businessman François-Henri Pinault, with whom she has a son named Augie.

The Canadian celebrity is currently not in a relationship and hasn’t indicated any interest in dating anyone right now.

When asked about dating in a 2023 interview, Evangelista replied: ‘Not interested. 

‘I don’t want to sleep with anybody any more. I don’t want to hear somebody breathing.’

Okay, so Linda just had to clarify that her last serious boyfriend was long gone before she started getting CoolSculpting! Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone is done with dating.

The 67-year-old shared that she’s done with dating and isn’t looking for a new partner.

In a 2020 interview on Drew Barrymore’s show, the actress shared that she’s hoping to focus on different priorities in her life.

“I’m giving up on dating,” Sharon told Drew. “I’m just tired of meeting people who aren’t genuine and don’t seem worth the effort.”

‘I enjoy my alone time and my time with my kids and friends more.

The Emmy winner was previously married to Michael Greenburg from 1984 until their split in 1987. 

She married Phil Bronstein in 1998, but they divorced six years later in 2004.

The star is also mum to three adopted sons: Roan, 25, Laird, 20, and Quinn, 19.

Fran Drescher 

Fran Drescher shared that she casually dates multiple people, referring to them as a ‘rotation’ of friends with benefits.

The actress, now 67, and Peter Marc Jacobson, also 67, were married for more than ten years before divorcing in 1999. Following their divorce, Jacobson publicly came out as gay.

She told Page Six at the screening of ‘The Friend’ in March that she was experiencing a minor injury.

The comedian revealed she still has feelings for her ex and maintains a close relationship with him, so they’ve agreed to a friends-with-benefits arrangement.

Drescher married Jacobson in 1978 when she was 21, but they separated in 1996 and divorced in 1999.

Despite their split, they remained good friends.

In June 2022, she shared with DailyMail.com that she and her ex-husband, Jacobson, have a stronger connection now than when they were married, and still care deeply for each other. He, in turn, described her as his ‘soulmate’.

She explained that even though they’re divorced, they’re both still single, finding it difficult to find something that measures up to their long history together – they’ve been a couple since they were teenagers and have experienced so much life together.

Jacobson described their connection as a powerful, unbreakable bond. “When you find your soulmate,” she said, “nothing can come between you. We share everything together – vacations, daily life, everything – and it’s a truly profound love.”

But he agreed with his ex and said he also wouldn’t marry again.

He believes marriage isn’t necessary, stating that a marriage license is just a formality. What truly matters, he feels, is the love and commitment between two people, not a legal document.

Teri Hatcher

After celebrating her 55th birthday, Teri Hatcher revealed she was feeling her best being single.

In a 2019 interview with PEOPLE, actress Marcia Cross, now 60, explained that being lonely and being alone are two different things.

I’ve been single for a long time, and I’m perfectly happy with my life. I want to challenge the idea that being single is something to be pitied.

She’s been married and divorced twice. Her first marriage was to actor Marcus Leithold, lasting from 1988 to 1989. She later married actor Jon Tenney, who is also the father of her child Emerson, but they divorced in 2003.
