The Ricky Starks - AEW situation is far from over

As a lifelong gamer and avid wrestling fan, I’ve seen my fair share of twists and turns in the world of sports entertainment. The current saga surrounding Ricky Starks and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is no exception to this rollercoaster ride.

In simpler terms, there’s always been a bit of a stir surrounding professional wrestling. At the moment, the main topic causing a buzz is about Ricky Stars and his connection with All Elite Wrestling. A recent interview by Chris Van Vliet has brought forth some intriguing discussions within the industry.

Consistently, there are two perspectives when discussing this matter. One side is that of Starks, a highly skilled entertainer, whose supporters have longed for his growth in singles performances. He’s encountered chances, such as his significant feuds with MJF and CM Punk (before the latter departed from the company). However, it’s been almost a year since we last saw Starks on TV, and speculation about his absence lingers, fueling ongoing discussions.

On the opposite side appears All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Just like any significant promotion, business doesn’t halt due to a single individual. The company has thrived without Starks and will carry on being successful even if he departs for WWE. Some whispers arose about Starks refusing creative ideas, which is common in such situations. However, Starks himself has denied these rumors through social media.

The situation became even more puzzling when it was revealed that AEW exercised an option in Starks’ contract, extending his tenure through spring or summer 2025. This move sparked criticism as some question the company’s motives if they have no immediate plans to utilize him. To many fans, this action seems out of character for AEW, which prides itself on fair treatment and collaboration with its performers.

In this realm, integrating social media into professional wrestling can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it offers performers a platform to express their genuine thoughts straight to the audience that truly listens. However, the ease of sharing opinions can sometimes lead to uninformed individuals commenting on matters, especially those seeking popularity and financial gain who may say whatever they wish in an attempt to attract interest from AEW, Starks, or both followers.

In the world of professional wrestling, it’s possible that Starks and AEW will collaborate or Starks might explore new opportunities elsewhere. After all, this is how business in wrestling often works. We’ve seen many top performers leave a company only to return years later. AEW, being relatively new, hasn’t yet gone through the usual ebb and flow of departures and returns. For instance, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk have both left and re-joined WWE, causing quite an impact. It’s likely that similar scenarios will unfold in AEW as well, with talent moving between companies just as AEW attracts new performers.

When considering the current situation involving Ricky Starks and AEW, remember that every similar scenario in sports entertainment history has had three perspectives – his, the company’s, and the truth which is often a blend of both. Ultimately, they will either find common ground or part ways. That’s just how things work in this industry.
