The Rey movie as been bumped from 2026, and I'm okay with this

As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast who’s witnessed the highs and lows of this epic saga, I must say that I welcome the news of a potential Rey Skywalker film delay. While it may seem frustrating to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe pumping out one hit after another, let’s remember the lessons we learned from the past. The Force is strong with patience, my friends!

Over the past weekend, Variety declared a shift in release dates – Ice Age 6 is now slated for December 2026 instead of a Star Wars movie. Although the specifics haven’t been officially disclosed yet, it appears this mysterious film could be the long-awaited Rey Skywalker saga, bringing Daisy Ridley back into the galaxy far, far away and directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. I can hardly wait to see what unfolds!

And I’m okay with this news.

There have been numerous rumors circulating about Simon Kinberg potentially working on the upcoming trilogy, and while it’s intriguing, I remain skeptical until official confirmation. Some speculate that this could be Rey’s trilogy, given her significant role in shaping the future of Star Wars for a new generation.

As a passionate gamer, I get why some folks might feel a tad impatient, given the rapid succession of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and shows. But let’s face it, when the MCU stumbles, it often bounces back with a blockbuster hit (like that unexpected gem, Agatha All Along). It’s like watching an unstoppable gaming character leveling up at an incredible pace!

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I can’t help but reflect on the lessons we’ve learned from the franchise when films are released too swiftly. I adore “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” and I’m one of those fans who still holds hope that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will someday return to create an animated film, despite our history together not always being smooth sailing. Yet, Solo had its fair share of challenges that can’t be overlooked, including the push to meet its release deadline.

Above all else, I eagerly anticipate the future Star Wars movies to be exceptional. Lucasfilm, please take your time to ensure quality work. In the meantime, enjoy The Mandalorian and Grogu as a delightful interlude. Moreover, with Star Wars Celebration Japan scheduled for April of next year, we can expect further announcements and updates. So, let’s remain patient and see what unfolds!
