The Residence includes a tribute to Brooklyn Nine-Nine star who was initially due to star

Netflix’s latest show, “The Residence“, pays homage to the late actor Andre Braugher of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” fame, in recognition of his passing.

The recently announced mystery show revolves around an inquiry into a fatal incident at the White House, initially planned to feature Braugher portraying the role of Chief Usher AB Wynter.

Regrettably, the actor died towards the end of 2023, having completed only half of his scenes due to the 2023 strikes halting production. Consequently, Giancarlo Esposito from “Breaking Bad” took over the role instead.

The finale of the series concluded with a touching acknowledgment towards Braugher, in the form of a tribute.

“In memory of Andre Braugher,” a title card reads before the credits roll.

Last year, while discussing taking over from Braugher on the Shondaland series “The Residence”, Esposito expressed: “I feel nothing but pride and deep respect to follow in Andre Braugher’s footsteps, for someone I deeply loved and admired.

Honoring him by being able to work together on creating something, deepens and widens his lasting impact, as it is felt by everyone who cherished him deeply.

Previously, I had the privilege of sharing screen time with the late star on the TV series “Homicide: Life on the Street,” taking over his role after he left the show. Later on, we got to work together again in the movie adaptation of that series.

Detective Cordelia Cupp, portrayed by Uzo Aduba, is summoned to scrutinize a homicide that transpired within the White House, her investigation being the main focus of “The Residenc.

According to Digital Spy’s five-star review, we find “The Residence” to be an intriguing whodunit that hooks you right from the start, especially if you enjoy delving into a chaotic narrative.

All eight episodes of The Residence are available to stream now on Netflix.
