Harrison Ford’s frequent collaborator and star of 1923, Brandon Sklenar, is quickly becoming known as an up-and-coming action star. His new Western thriller features another actor from the show, and is generating buzz – especially among fans who think he’d be a great Batman. The film will showcase Sklenar’s talent and action skills.
The new thriller, The Rescue, requires the unique skills of a rodeo cowboy, and has been described as a contemporary western where those skills are tested in a real-life situation. While details about the plot are still being kept secret, this intriguing description, combined with the addition of three stars from Yellowstone to the cast, should be enough to generate excitement.
Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, known for films like the Western Old Henry and the upcoming action thriller Motor City (starring Alan Ritchson of Reacher and War Machine), The Rescue is shaping up to be an exciting project. The screenplay is penned by John Fusco, who previously wrote Young Guns, and the cast includes Hassie Harrison, known for her work on Yellowstone, alongside Sklenar.
The cast of The Rescue is growing, with Nick Searcy, Lorelei Olivia Mote, Austin Amelio, Spencer Treat Clark, Tim Blake Nelson, and Josh Duhamel joining the project. Duhamel is also known for his role as a young John Dutton in Yellowstone, alongside Kevin Costner, and has appeared in films like Ford v Ferrari and Sweet Home Alabama.
Skydance Media has been developing The Rescue for a while, even before merging with Paramount Global last year. Filming is now happening, and the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on January 29, 2027. While audiences would likely be excited to see Brandon Sklenar as a cowboy again, the fact that several other stars from Yellowstone are also in the film is great news. It proves that Taylor Sheridan’s popular Western series continues to have a strong impact, even after its finale in 2024.

After gaining significant attention for his roles in the successful thriller The Housemaid with Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, and the Yellowstone spin-off 1923, actor Sklenar is poised to take on more prominent film roles. He’s especially excited to collaborate again with Taylor Sheridan on the upcoming action thriller F.A.S.T.

I just got a sneak peek at F.A.S.T., and it’s shaping up to be a breakout year for actor Sklenar. He plays a former special forces operative who’s fallen on hard times after coming home, but gets pulled back into the game by the DEA. The mission? Lead a covert strike team against some seriously protected drug dealers – and things get messy. Sheridan wrote the script, and Ben Richardson (who directed 1923 and Those Who Wish Me Dead) keeps the action moving at a breakneck pace. Look for F.A.S.T. to hit theaters on April 23, 2027 – it’s definitely one to watch if you’re an action fan!
