The real reason why Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis did not appear in show’s 20th Anniversary special ‘is revealed’

The real reason why Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis did not appear in show's 20th Anniversary special 'is revealed'

As an ardent fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I must confess that the past year has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me. The show that once brought joy and excitement to millions now seems entangled in a web of controversy. It’s like watching my beloved soap opera take a dark turn.

It seems that Rose Ayling-Ellis, who won Strictly Come Dancing, apparently decided against participating in the show’s 20th anniversary special on Saturday night, even though she danced with professional partner Giovanni Pernice to claim victory.

In 2021, the Strictly Come Dancing competition was won by a 30-year-old actress from EastEnders, who became the first deaf contestant on the show. Her dance partner was Giovanni, aged 34. Together, they took home the glitterball trophy.

However, while her dances were fondly remembered on Strictly Come Dancing: 20 Fabulous Years, Rose was noticeably absent from the special, which aired on Saturday.

Earlier this year, Giovanni departed from the show following allegations by his previous dance partner, Amanda Abbington (age 50), that he had been abusive and a bully. An investigation into these claims ensued, resulting in him being cleared of ten out of the sixteen accusations made against him.

It has been disclosed that although Rose enjoyed her stint on the program, she declined the invitation for the anniversary special because she preferred not to reminisce about her experiences with Giovanni.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can share an intriguing tidbit: Rose deeply appreciated her stint on the show, yet she opted to keep her experiences with Giovanni private.

They added: ‘She’s chosen not to speak about him and Amanda publicly.’

TopMob has contacted the BBC and Rose’s representative for comment.

Another clip of the show featured former professional dancer Graziano Di Prima, 30, who was axed from the BBC show in July over reports he ‘hit and kicked’ his former partner Zara McDermott, 27, during rehearsals last year.

As a devoted admirer, I had the privilege of being among the guests on the show recently, where we honored the memories of some dearly departed stars. Among them were esteemed judge Len Goodman, beloved host Bruce Forsyth, Caroline Flack, and dancer Robin Windsor. Former judge Arlene Phillips, at 81 years young, was also part of this touching tribute.

In the heart of a fervent fan, I must admit that the 20th-anniversary series of Strictly felt slightly spoiled. The year was shrouded in controversy, and unfortunately, our beloved BBC show found itself entangled in a scandal that cast a shadow over the celebration.

In the early part of this very year, I too was left uninformed when the BBC overlooked addressing the ongoing scandal during their initial broadcast, despite the fact that the findings from the investigation into misconduct were yet to be disclosed.

The story started back in October, when Amanda, an actress, suddenly left the show without first alleging that her partner, Giovanni, had been abusive toward her.

As a devoted admirer, let me recount how the actress portraying my beloved Sherlock Holmes has levied a string of allegations against the esteemed Giovanni, questioning his teaching techniques. She went so far as to label his actions as unwarranted, abusive, harsh, and downright mean. However, Giovanni adamantly refutes these accusations, maintaining his innocence.

While an investigation by the BBC was ongoing regarding accusations from Amanda and two other ex-celebrity associates, Giovanni found himself temporarily suspended.

In September, Amanda felt greatly disillusioned towards the leaders at BBC due to concerns that they were shielding the dancer during their investigation into alleged bullying.

Following Giovanni, the program faced another round of controversy in July when Graziano was dismissed for allegedly mistreating his co-star Zara, specifically by physically attacking her, often referred to as ‘kicking’.

Zara explained she didn’t report the incidents at the time as she was ‘scared’ of backlash.

Rather than senior members, it was the junior production team who spoke up about what they had observed during the investigation involving dancer Giovanni.

Zara shared with her audience that although her experience on Strictly was largely what she had envisioned, there were specific instances within the training room with Graziano that proved extremely upsetting.
