The real reason Samantha Armytage quit Channel Seven after landing role as host of Farmer Wants A Wife
As a die-hard fan of Samantha Armytage, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing her decision to leave Channel Seven after an impressive 21 years. From her vibrant morning presence on Sunrise to her heartwarming journey with Farmer Wants A Wife, Sam has been an integral part of my daily routine for so long that it feels like losing a dear friend.
Samantha Armytage announced her departure from Channel Seven after 21 years on Sunday morning.
The host of The Farmer Wants A Wife informed The Daily Telegraph that she and her husband, Richard Lavender, mutually decided to part ways from the network. Her departure is primarily driven by her desire to experience personal fulfillment.
She confided to the press that she found herself pondering, “What will my life be like in the next five to ten years?”
‘I’m 47, so it was a bit of a stocktake. I’m still productive. I want to make good TV.’
According to reports, Armytage is said to have turned down a fresh agreement with Seven when her existing contract ends in October.
I must admit, bidding farewell is never easy, yet there’s an undeniable sense of anticipation that fills me as I embark on a new chapter in my life. The time has truly arrived for me to move forward, and I can’t help but feel both wistful and exhilarated about the adventures that lie ahead.
Armytage is set to attend the forthcoming Logies, as her show Farmer Wants A Wife has been nominated in the category of Best Structured Reality Program. However, she will not be returning to host future installments of the series.
On Sunday morning, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news as a dedicated follower: Angus Ross, the Group Managing Director of Seven Television, has confirmed that Natalie Gruzlewski will be back as our host when the new season debuts in 2025!
21 years after, Samantha Armytage announced her departure from the Seven Network in October of this year. We wholeheartedly acknowledge and endorse her choice.
Over the past two decades, Sam has significantly impacted Channel Seven. From 7NEWS and Sunrise to his latest work on Farmer Wants A Wife, he’s left an indelible mark.
‘Sam’s heartfelt love for the rural life she’s known since childhood, evident in her work on the award-nominated TV series across three seasons, has been a delight to witness. Her sharing of this affection for these communities with Australia, as we’ve followed their compelling farmer tales, has been truly captivating.’
‘We wish Sam – and her farmer – every happiness and success for the future.’
Armytage started working with Seven Network in the year 2003, which led to her securing her first significant hosting position on Seven News Sydney in 2004.
From 2013 to 2021, she shared hosting duties on the hit morning program Sunrise with Kochie. Upon her resignation, news anchor Natalie Barr took over her position.
In the previous year, her role switched to the host position for Farmer Wants A Wife, while Gruzlewski continued his presence as a show presenter.
Following news that well-known personalities could be let go, she chose to leave Channel Seven, as it appears that some top-tier actors might experience salary reductions to maintain their positions.
Reputable newscaster Mark Ferguson finds himself in a precarious situation, as he’s been granted a mandatory six-week vacation, according to The Daily Telegraph’s reports from last month.
It’s understood the network will consider replacements for his role once his contract expires.
Names being touted to take Ferguson’s seat are Michael Usher, Angela Cox and Angie Asimus.
It’s said that David Koch, who is currently under contract with Seven following his departure from Sunrise, might not have his contract extended.
According to a source who spoke with the newspaper, it’s expected that Sonia Kruger will continue living, but she may experience a significant reduction in her current $1.3 million salary.
Dr Chris Brown is also safe, but may face a pay cut on his rumoured $2million contract.
According to the newspaper, Matt Doran’s role as Weekend Sunrise host may be uncertain, as a final decision remains unclear.
According to the report, Mark Baretta, who is associated with the sunrise star, seems set to continue until 2025; however, it suggests that he might have to accept a reduction in salary to maintain his position.
Experienced reporter Ann Sanders might choose to depart from the network, as reported, and she intends to do so under her own conditions, according to the newspaper.
