The real reason Hugh Jackman was a no-show at Tony Awards amid messy split with Deborra-Lee Furness

He’s the King of Broadway and a four-time Tony Awards Show host.

Despite his continuing personal conflict with ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, Hugh Jackman did not attend Hollywood’s biggest event in New York City on Sunday evening.

For the well-known, 56-year-old singer and dancer who has won two Tonys, it seemed that presenting his own show in Los Angeles this coming Saturday was a topmost concern or priority.

On the eve of the 78th Tony Awards, just over 24 hours prior, Hugh Jackman, famously known for playing Wolverine, took center stage at the Hollywood Bowl for his own grand opening event titled “An Evening with Hugh Jackman,” which was attended by a bustling crowd.

With the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles playing alongside him, Hugh performed some of his favorite musical theater pieces, which included tracks from The Boy from Oz, The Music Man, and The Greatest Showman.

Taking to his Instagram on Sunday, Hugh shared images from the show.

He expressed gratitude towards the entire team at the Hollywood Bowl, saying each member made us feel exceptionally cared for, as stated in his caption.

As a fortunate participant, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to @laphil and #YOLA for giving us the opportunity to share the stage with you all. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary, as evidenced by the memories captured in this photo from our performance on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Hugh took time out to send a greeting to Tony Awards 2025 host Cynthia Erivo.

Posting a photo of the Wicked actress to his stories, Hugh added the caption.

We need something, and that something is a song! Particularly if Cynthia Erivo is singing it during the 2025 Tony Awards, absolutely!

Following the report, it seems Deborra-Lee might be publishing an unfiltered account, titled a ‘divorce diary’, which delves into the difficult separation from Hugh and the emotional aftermath that ensued.

The well-known Australian actress, aged 69, is presently chronicling her turbulent emotional ride, intending to release a memoir after her divorce from the actor famous for playing Wolverine has been formally concluded.

‘Deb’s been desperate to have her side of the story out there,’ an alleged source told New Idea.

She has been jotting down everything, both the positive and negative aspects, and meticulously recording each twist and turn in this turbulent divorce process. Once her legal team gives the green light, she plans to discuss publishing opportunities with various companies.

The disclosures emerged about a month following Deb’s submission of divorce documents, thereby concluding her 27-year union with Hugh. She also made a potent public declaration, recounting her harrowing experience of deception in her life.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Deborra-Lee Furness for comment.

Currently, it appears that Jackman and his girlfriend, Sutton Foster (age 50), are experiencing a rise in tensions, with Jackman striving to incorporate Foster into the family circle that he used to share with Deb.

It appears that the Australian actor seems keen on helping Sutton develop a connection with their adopted kids, Oscar (age 25) and Ava (age 19), but the journey hasn’t been an easy one so far.

According to a source who spoke with New Idea, Sutton has asked Hugh to halt pushing things further, as it seems he prefers waiting for their divorce to be finalized before any formal introductions take place.

Foster, who has a joint child, Emily, aged 7, with ex-spouse Ted Griffin, appears to be proceeding cautiously, taking into account the ongoing effects of Deb’s critical remarks.

In my professional perspective as a lifestyle expert, I must share some intriguing developments regarding the Jackman-Furness split. Last week, I noticed Hugh stepping out in public for the first time following Deb’s powerful statement, which has only served to amplify whispers that their initially cordial separation has taken a turn for the worse, hinting at underlying tension.

Hugh hasn’t made a personal statement about the separation yet, but a source informed The Daily Mail that he was deeply disheartened by Deborra-Lee’s comments because they had an agreement to avoid publicly criticizing each other, as he felt their private understanding had been violated.
