The real reason behind The Project’s disastrous mid-show evacuation after fire alarm sent Ten’s problem-plagued panel show into chaos
As a seasoned lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent incident at The Project has provided a unique and entertaining twist to the world of live television. It’s not every day you see hosts running down the street in pursuit of an elevator!
The real reason behind The Project’s mid-air evacuation has been revealed.
Star Sam Taunton admitted on social media last night that he was responsible for triggering the false fire alarm during the panel show, leading to its replacement with an episode of The Dog House Australia.
The comedian apologized, saying he accidentally set the toaster for multigrain instead of white bread when making toast, expressing regret about his mistake in a video post shared by co-star Sarah Harris.
However on Thursday morning, Harris admitted the actual reason behind the blunder.
On this morning’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, I shared that the earlier concern proved to be unfounded. It seems an unusual malfunction with our air conditioning system triggered the alarm.
An official representative from Fire and Rescue Victoria stated that they were called out due to a mistaken activation, as it turned out the smoke detector had malfunctioned.
On Wednesday evening, Channel 10 unexpectedly plunged into turmoil as The Project was suddenly halted mid-broadcast, causing its hosts to hurriedly leave the studio in Melbourne in a rather dramatic manner.
6:49pm saw viewers puzzled as they witnessed a sudden change in their screens, during an advertisement break for the news program hosted by Waleed Aly, Harris, and Taunton, which was mysteriously replaced with an episode of The Dog House Australia instead.
As the series that homes unwanted pooches played across the country, a crawl ran along the bottom of TV screens, updating viewers on the alarming turn of events.
Because of some unexpected events, here’s a special presentation for you: The Dog House. Enjoy!
One employee from Channel 10 seized the opportunity amidst the commotion, transforming the turmoil into content for their struggling rating show on social media.
‘The fire alarm has gone off and they’re making us evacuate,’ the crew member began.
It appears that fire safety is being prioritized over entertainment, which strikes them as unexpected, as they stroll along a fire escape.
Remember that the order during an evacuation in the entertainment industry prioritizes children and celebrities over regular people. This is simply how show business handles such situations.
‘So, Waleed and Sarah, they’ve been choppered out of here while we’re taking the stairs.’
The video showed a crew member leaving Channel 10’s studios while fire trucks arrived, their sirens blaring.
Under the open sky, Aly and Harris were noticeably anxious yet smiling, trailing behind the throng of people moving away from the structure toward safety, their microphone equipment still on them.
In a playful manner, I’d like to express my thoughts on how we ought to approach tonight’s performance. To clarify, I didn’t request a break from the show. This isn’t a secret plot or strategy; it just so happens that I’m here, ready and eager to contribute.
He went on to say, “Frankly, I’ve got no clue about what’s going on, and it’s something entirely new for me.”
Harris playfully joined the humorous remark by inquiring, “The real question here is, who was making toast? Who was making toast?”
It seems that they’re planning to broadcast The Dog House, one team member mentioned. This prompted Harris to chuckle and reply: ‘If viewership increases significantly, then…’
Subsequently, you could spot the panelists dashing along the street and hastily entering an elevator as they headed back to the studio.
At 7:10 pm, the Project resumed its live stream, where the hosts shared a recap of the events that occurred during the extended intermission.
‘There was a fire alert in our building and we had to leave, ‘Aly explained.
‘Not just leave, we had to run,’ Sarah interjected.
Aly humorously inquired, “Who created our fire emergency plan?” as they found themselves a kilometer apart, referring to the unexpected twist of events.
Later in the episode, Jamie Oliver was quick to take the mickey out of the mishap.
Initially, I’d like to extend my apologies about the fire alarm. A person was asked to prepare some hors d’oeuvres, and look who ended up causing a ruckus! The famous chef quipped humorously.
As an over-the-moon fan, I’d rephrase it like this: “I just got wind from the program’s post that a fire alarm went off at their studio! This caused a sudden halt to the show and everyone – presenters, crew – had to leave The Como Centre in South Yarra where they film. Quite a shocking moment!”
