The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Karen Huger enters recovery program and misses reunion after DUI conviction
Karen Huger won’t be present for the taping of The Real Housewives of Potomac’s season nine reunion, as she is admitted into a recuperation center. This decision comes about a month after her conviction on a DUI charge from March 2024 in Potomac, Maryland.
On Thursday, it was announced by Ryan Tresdale, Karen’s manager, on Bravo’s The Daily Dish that she had chosen to check into a confidential recovery facility, which meant she couldn’t participate in the reunion filming that day.

In contrast to the promotional content Bravo released to generate excitement about the seating setup for the filming in New York City, the reality star from Surry, Virginia (age 61) was not featured.
In pictures shared on social media, Huger’s co-stars Mia Thornton, Wendy Osefo, Stacey Rusch, Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby and Keiarna Stewart were spotted with reunion host Andy Cohen.
As an ardent admirer, often referred to as ‘The Grand Dame,’ I found myself in court on the 19th of December, facing charges. The list included driving under the influence (DUI) and driving while intoxicated (DWI), speeding, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and neglecting to report an address change. Fortunately, a reckless driving charge was dropped.
Hunger is due to receive a sentence on January 29, stemming from his convictions, and could potentially spend up to two years behind bars as a result of the offenses he has committed.
Following her trial’s outcome, A. Scott Bolden, Huger’s attorney, expressed his disappointment but also acknowledged the jury’s verdict in a statement to People. He stated that they respected the decision made by the jury and appreciated their dedication in listening to their arguments.

Last month, Cohen expressed his feelings about Huger’s difficulties to a magazine: “I find it all quite tragic. I haven’t fully grasped it yet, but I believe it’s extremely sad.
On March 19th, according to the Montgomery County Police, there was a traffic accident where Huger was involved. This incident occurred due to a single-car crash where she veered across the median and destroyed several road signs. As reported by People, Huger did not sustain any injuries in this accident.
Following the court decision, officials made public the body camera video that captured Huger’s apprehension back in March. During the subsequent investigation following the event, Huger’s spouse, Ray, was caught on camera assisting Karen during police questioning.
Karen was asked, ‘Do you remember the accident?’ to which she said, ‘Yes.’
In response to the officer’s question about what had occurred, she replied, “Not much of anything,” prompting Ray to remark to his partner that someone had forced her off the road. She concurred with this statement, but mentioned that she couldn’t recall the other vehicle that was allegedly involved in the incident.
On the topic of her alcohol consumption that particular night, Karen seemed evasive towards the officers, instead suggesting they direct their questions to Ray regarding the matter.
Ray mentioned, “It seems they’re thinking you may have consumed more alcohol than is appropriate, and I’m guessing, based on your understanding, you might have had a few beers or similar.
In response to being asked about the damage to her Maserati in the incident, Karen replied, ‘Indeed, it was the only thing I had with me.’
Recently, it was reported by DailyMail.com that, as filming for the forthcoming season of RHOP has wrapped, there are doubts about whether Karen will be invited back unless she undergoes a significant change in her personal life. The source mentioned a complete transformation is required.
