In the intense official trailer for 28 Years Later, I’m plunged back into the heart of the chaos, bracing myself for another grueling battle against the unchecked fury of this raging pandemic.
In the final remnants of humanity, there remains a glimmer of hope amidst the turmoil, as they bravely fight against the relentless tide of the infected. Check out the chilling first trailer for the upcoming horror film right below.
In the trailer, it’s clear that the horror has not abated. Years have gone by since the initial outbreak, yet the virus’s hold on humanity seems more potent than ever. The movie primarily focuses on a band of survivors living on a secluded island, who have somehow found a means to coexist amidst the infected population.
When an individual chooses to embark on a perilous journey away from the island, they stumble upon startling realities and unspeakable terrors that have fundamentally changed not only the afflicted, but also the uninfected survivors.
Renowned Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, famed for directing the initial film in the series (namely, “28 Days Later”), is back at the helm for the latest installment. The script for this project was penned by Alex Garland, who also wrote the screenplay for the original movie. Notably, Cillian Murphy, who played Jim in “28 Days Later,” serves as an executive producer on the upcoming film.
The amazingly talented cast is made up of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, Alfie Williams, and Edvin Ryding. In addition, Murphy is believed to be reprising his role as Jim in the sequel, even though he is not shown in the trailer. However, there’s speculation that he could’ve been one of the zombies.
Filmed using an iPhone, the movie “28 Years Later” is scheduled for a theater release on June 20, 2025, by Sony Pictures Releasing. A second part titled “28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple” was filmed simultaneously, but its theatrical release date has yet to be announced. Additionally, plans are underway for a third film in this trilogy of sequels to “28 Days Later” and “28 Weeks Later.
