The Punisher Gets Exciting Update as MCU Special Wraps Filming

An intriguing change has been made to the forthcoming Disney+ special titled “The Punisher“, as it now includes a renowned personality in its lineup.

What is the latest update on The Punisher MCU special?

As per a recent update from World of Reel, the esteemed cinematographer Robert Elswit has been tapped to handle the cinematography for an upcoming project. This Academy Award winner is renowned for his work on movies such as There Will Be Blood, Punch Drunk-Love, Nightcrawler, and Ella McCay, and is particularly recognized for his collaborations with director Paul Thomas Anderson.

The upcoming Punisher special shrouds itself in enigma at the moment, but it’s confirmed that Jon Bernthal will once again embody Frank Castle/The Punisher. With filming now completed, we anticipate more updates on this project shortly. Previous reports hint that the special may center around Castle’s struggle to break free from Wilson Fisk’s personal prison.

Beyond Bernthal, the selection process for this project has remained discreet. There’s speculation that the Marvel Comics character, Ma Gnucci, might play a role, but so far, no official confirmation has been made public.

In a upcoming collaboration, Reinaldo Marcus Green and Jon Bernthal are penning a special project for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with Green taking on the director’s role. As of now, there’s no confirmed release date on Disney+, but it’s anticipated to debut in 2026.
