The Project’s Sarah Harris says she’s ‘tired’ amid Network Ten series shock axing…as she arrives at Sydney Airport
Sarah Harris, the lead on Project Star, had a solemn demeanor as she landed at Sydney Airport following the cancellation of the Network Ten show.
The Project was unceremoniously axed this week after 16 years on the air.
On Friday, Sarah, aged 43, who had joined the project in 2023, was seen returning to Sydney from Melbourne, attempting to keep a low profile.
The presenter rugged up against the chilly Sydney weather in a long, dark grey wool overcoat.
She paired this with a simple black top, which she tucked neatly into a comfortable fit of navy blue denim jeans.
Besides the outfit, Sarah additionally donned a pair of white Adidas trainers and completed her travel style by sporting a red New York Yankees baseball cap, which largely hid her well-known face.

She carried a black leather handbag casually across her shoulder, while she was also observed pushing a black-and-white suitcase as they moved through the airport’s main hall.
With a simple style, Sarah added a touch of elegant gold jewelry to her appearance by wearing small earrings.
Despite the unpredictability of her professional path ahead, Sarah was seen sporting a smile as she navigated the airport.
At one point, she was seen beaming broadly as she offered a passer-by a hearty thumbs up.
Speaking to an awaiting photographer, Sarah revealed that she was eager to get back home.
‘I’m good,’ she said. ‘I’m tired – glad to be home with my boys,’ she smiled.
When asked her thoughts on The Project’s demise, Sarah remained philosophical.
‘It’s TV, I guess,’ she said with a shrug of the shoulders. ‘We’ve had a pretty good run.’

It comes after The Project was officially axed this week with the final episode airing on June 27.
On Monday, Network 10 took to Facebook to express gratitude towards their viewers and reveal that they have a new show lined up in place of the current one.
Additionally, it is said that Waleed Aly, Sarah Harris, and Hamish Macdonald are planning to depart from the network, whereas Sam Taunton will persist in making guest appearances on various Ten programs.
Following the recent announcements, Waleed expressed concern that free-to-air TV is facing a grim future with The Project being taken off the air.
In an article for The Age, a public figure and television personality, Aly, expressed his reluctance about writing it, but nonetheless cautioned that the decline of Network Ten’s show might be due to the increasing influence of technology companies.
Waleed pointed out that traditional free television was facing a decline in viewership due to the rise of streaming platforms. However, he emphasized a more significant concern: the alarming accumulation of users’ personal information by tech companies like Meta and Google, which he considered excessively invasive.
Therefore, they could target audiences with better tailored ads than TV ever could.

As a die-hard fan, I can confidently say that this state of bliss shall endure so long as the TV screen never pans to capture my moments, scrutinizing each step I take. (Aly)
The result has been that advertisers have tended to migrate, or “flee,” if you will, towards these tech titans rather than the audience itself.
On Monday night, there was no sign of tears from the cast, yet Sarah took an emotional look back at her journey with the struggling news program. She reminisced about her initial appearance on a comedy segment led by ex-host of The Project, Dave Hughes.
She mentioned that it was during this program that she made her debut, presenting as the humorous figure known as Dave Hughes, which drew chuckles from her fellow cast members.
I tripped outside the court during a press conference, but I’m really thankful for the chance to share this desk and experience some TV magic with everyone here.
She added: “It’s been incredibly enjoyable, but what truly makes it special are the people. The Show and The Project aren’t limited to those of us here on set; they also include the team working tirelessly behind the scenes.
In this scenario, I’d like to highlight the unsung heroes behind the scenes. These are the producers, editors, camera operators (including women), floor crew, control room personnel, directors, hair and makeup artists – everyone who tirelessly works hard every night for six days a week to ensure we have a smooth broadcast.
Additionally, she discussed with the Sydney Morning Herald about the termination and her departure from the broadcasting network.

She mentioned that it’s not common to find jobs where you share deeply human tales, chat with political figures and famous personalities, and occasionally burst into laughter or tears (emotionally) in the presence of a live audience each evening.
She shared that she’s been having a wonderful time, but now feels it’s necessary for her to pause and spend time with her sons. As a fun aside, she mentioned to check out her OnlyFans page!
Previously shared by Lisa Wilkinson: “Farewell to The Project. Numerous gifted individuals, countless chuckles, and countless crucial narratives – some might never have surfaced if not for this platform.
I felt immense pleasure and honor to take part in everything. A warm hug to each one of you, especially the dedicated team who worked tirelessly backstage. The audience, as well as yourself, truly embodied the essence and spirit of the performance.
