The Pitt‘s Noah Wyle Wins Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Noah Wyle, known for his role as an emergency room doctor on the TV show *The Pitt*, won his first Emmy Award on Sunday night. He was recognized as the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Wyle thanked those working or finishing shifts on Sunday night, dedicating his award to them for their hard work.

Later in the night, The Pitt won the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series.

In *The Pitt*, actor Wyle portrays an emergency room doctor who is still processing the difficult experiences of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Interestingly, Wyle is familiar with the role – he previously received five Emmy nominations for playing an ER doctor in the 1990s television show *ER*. In that series, he played a new doctor being mentored by a strict supervisor, played by Eriq La Salle.

I’ve been watching *The Pitt*, and it’s amazing to see his character taking on a mentor role with the new doctors. It’s become so popular, and so much like the original *ER*, that Michael Crichton’s estate actually considers it a spin-off! It really feels like a continuation of that world, and it’s exciting to watch.

Season 2 of The Pitt will premiere in January 2026.
