‘The Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond reveals how she ‘healed’ her hair
One thing you might have observed about the popular TV personality Ree Drummond, also known as The Pioneer Woman on Food Network, is her vibrant red tresses. She’s famous for her beautiful mane, but what many people don’t know is that she had to put in a lot of effort to achieve her signature look. Here’s what Ree Drummond shared about how she “nurtured” her hair.
Is Ree Drummond a natural redhead?
Drummond openly disclosed on social media that her hair is naturally red, but she admitted to occasionally dyeing it for a more balanced and vibrant look. In 2023, she informed her followers that she had to visit the salon due to her hair strands losing their color and turning yellowish-orange.
In “The Pioneeer Woman Magazine”, Drummond mentions that she keeps her red hair vibrant by using Aveda’s Color Conserve shampoo and conditioner, which prevents the color from losing its intensity.
Ree Drummond’s hair journey
Drummond mentions that her hair didn’t pose any problems when she was younger. On her website, The Pioneer Woman, she posted a picture highlighting the length and density of her red locks. As she grew older, however, she started noticing that her hair became more “dry” and “frizzy.” Additionally, she noticed a decrease in the thickness of her hair.
According to Drummond, when she recently revisited a photo of herself from 2012, she was struck by the significant transformation in her hairstyle. Over the next couple of years, her hair started thinning out further.
According to The Pioneer Woman, she noted that it was clearly breaking off and falling out, and it wasn’t regrowing strongly. She further explained that by about 2014 (two years later), it had become quite apparent that her hair was barely a semblance of its previous fullness.
At that juncture, Drummond opted to experiment with hair extensions. Regrettably, she admits these extensions exacerbated the condition of her natural hair. Drummond refers to a “destructive loop” where she needed to attach more extensions to achieve greater volume, while the quality of her real hair declined.
How Ree Drummond ‘healed’ her hair
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Drummond opted to take vitamin D supplements as a means of boosting her health. She was simultaneously embarking on a weight-loss mission and increased her protein intake. Furthermore, rather than continuing to lighten her hair, she decided to switch to a darker shade. Given that lighter colors can damage the hair, this change proved beneficial for her.
As a dedicated cinephile, I’ve been keeping a keen eye on my favorite TV host, and over the course of time, I’ve noticed a remarkable transformation in her appearance – particularly her hair. She confided that while she still opts for extensions occasionally, she no longer feels the need to pile them on as she used to. Intriguingly, she revealed that she’s completely given up wearing extensions altogether now. Her luscious locks are a testament to her commitment towards dietary and haircare adjustments, which have worked wonders in restoring the health of her tresses.
